Who Is This 50"s Era Composer?

I’m trying to remember the name of a composer:performer from the 50"s (ish) Thr [Somone] Orchestra. His songs had a whimsical, comical sound and used sound effects (phone ringing, "boing’ of a doorstopper). One song was named something like “Lonesome Road” and another something like “You’re the Tops.” Is this ringing a bell for anyone?
