Trying to find a record/song from the 60s (or maybe 50s but I'm pretty sure it's the 60s)

Years ago I heard this song, figured out the name of it, looked it up on YouTube, found that it was from a whole album of similar music, and have since forgotten about it.

The album was called “Space Cadets” or “Space Case” or something like that (and believe me, I’ve looked up variations ad nauseam to no effect), and the songs within are meant to evoke a far-out feeling that somehow reminds the listener of the ongoing Space Race or the dawn of the Space Age, if you will. The harpsichord figures prominently, like it does in 60’s and 50’s instrumental music. I’m almost positive it was compiled/released by Rhino Records, but a search of their website gives me bubkus.

The song is instrumental and is … humorous (if an instrumental song could be humorous). Imagine Spike Jones or if Weird Al composed instrumentals. It’s called “Lonesome Road” or “Lonesome Highway” (and again, I’ve searched various combinations of keywords over and over again), and it includes coughs, phone rings, car doors shutting, etc. as “instruments.” The only spoken word is a woman angrily saying “Fresh!” at the end.

Is this ringing a bell for anyone?

If you play around with Facebook, go to “The Dr. Demento Show - OFFICIAL” and ask there, and they could probably help you.

If you remember the tune could you hum it into https://vocaroo.com
or recreate it in https://onlinesequencer.net/

Maybe “The Lonesome Road” by Dean Elliott and His Orchestra from “Zounds! What Sounds!”

Best I got.

Yes, that was it! Thank you!!!

And the record compilation was Space Capades.

If AI ever beats this board in song identification, we’ll know we’re done as a species.

In song ID and so many other things…

AI gave me jack shit. I think it just makes stuff up when it can’t readily find the answer.
