Who is your cell provider, and do you love/hate them?

AT&T because I have an Iphone. It let’s me use my Iphone which is auto-love. I don’t care about AT&T themselves but I would marry my Iphone if I could.

At&T. I live in BFE and I have yet to find a spot where I can’t get service.

I had Sprint for a few months when i was a cell phone newbie and it sucked mightily. Couldn’t get service anywhere in the sticks, only in the city. Luckily, it was a pay as you go service.

I have T-Mobile, I don’t love or hate them. It works virtually everywhere I go. Unfortunately, I live in a cell phone dead zone, it doesn’t matter what carrier, there is no reception for about a half mile radius.

Verizon.

Like well enough for adults’ use (Typo Knig and me). I found they weren’t as useful for the kids because their prepaid service is awful compared to other providers (minutes expire waaaaay too soon). Texts are pricey compared with other providers also; we finally broke down and got texting bundles because even 10 texts apiece (to/from each other) were too expensive. They’ve generally got the best coverage here (DC metro).

T-Mobile for the kids, prepaid. They had a decent combination of cheap text messages and minutes that don’t expire too soon (Verizon’s were: if you loaded 10 bucks, they went away in 10 days; T-Mobile’s go away after 3 months or more). Their coverage isn’t the greatest though.

I’m amazed at these numbers. Every time someone’s cell provider is brought up in conversation, it’s always about how much they hate them. I always thought it was funny - they’re a huge corporation, they’re not going to have very good customer service, and most people are going to hate their provider. I guess it just goes to show that people are more likely to bring up their few instances of terrible support than the other instances of meeting expectations.

Verizon- more love than hate, I guess. Their phones are uniformly boring, but I can usually find one that I’m more or less satisfied with. If the rumors are true and a CDMA (read: Verizon-capable) iPhone is in development, I’ll be even happier.

AT&T. Meh. Love the iPhone 3GS, not so enraptured with the provider

Hate AT&T, but I’d probably hate any cell phone provider, because they don’t cater to people like me. I want to use my iPhone for mostly data and maybe 10 minutes a month voice. For a while I was able to use a GoPhone sim and pay $20/month for data (and an average of $10-15/month for a la carte phone service), but they put the kibosh on that about a year ago. Now, to enjoy unlimited data, I pay $30 for data and $40 (!!!) for 450 minutes of voice service, of which I will use 10 minutes. It’s easily my most wasteful expense, but they have me by the short hairs because I love the iPhone.

T-Mobile.
I don’t know about “love”, but I like them a lot so I hit the “love” button.

They have been pretty good to me - had some issues with a phone and, even though I still had a few months before I was due to get a new phone (per yearly agreement) they just gave me my new phone early and didn’t charge me for it.

Granted, they are not the cheapest, but have had no problem with service.

We also have Skype International service for our calls to Europe and New Zealand ($9.95/month) for unlimited calls* there, using our cell phones.

*more specifically, a maximum of 10,000 minutes per month, which is FAR more than we would ever possibly need.

TracPhone - love it.

Love Verizon. You know all those stupid “dropped call” commercials? Never had it happen once, ever. Call clarity is fine, the fee we pay is pretty reasonable, and on the very rare times we’ve come close to going over our minutes, as long as we call before the end of the billing cycle they’ve always been totally cool about tacking on an extra chunk of minutes for free to cover us. Oh and also, I got a cool military-spec phone that has survived many a dunking and too many drops to count.
Four thumbs up from the NajaNest for Verizon Wireless!

Brit here,Orange are rubbish.

Verizon. So so.

I have T-Mobile, and I’m pretty darn loyal to them. Their plans are relatively inexpensive, but why I won’t go with anyone else is their call-center customer service is the best I’ve ever received from any company, much less a cellular service. After some of the nightmares I went through trying to resolve issues with Sprint (while I was a Sprint employee, no less!), I can’t imagine inviting that hassle into my life again. T-Mobile also has some very nice phones available that are exclusively theirs.

The minor downside to T-Mobile is that their coverage isn’t as far-ranging as some others, though I have found that my phone sometimes has signal in locations where other carriers don’t. They used to lack 3G coverage, which was a bigger issue, but have it now. And their one-year upgrade discount is a pittance, so expect to keep your phone for the two year length of your contract, though I don’t know if that’s actually worse than how other companies do it.

Interesting poll, though “love/hate” is a bit strong ;D

I can say I’ve had nothing but very good customer service from Verizon, specifically in the last few months.

I had just gotten a new cell phone through their “new every two” plan. Unfortunately, I damaged the outer screen when it sat under a metal belt buckle in my pocket on a plane ride.

Verizon was really quick to send me a replacement, with the caveat I send back the damaged phone just to prove I hadn’t dropped it in water (I guess they put a little water indicator in phones these days. Who knew?)

Of course, me being the organized individual, I missed my well communicated window to do so without being charged for a new phone. So I was a bit pissed (at myself) when I saw a $300 charge on my bill this month.

I called customer service ready to argue, beg, scream and plead but the rep was very friendly. "No problem, as long as you send it back (I’ll check the tracking number) by next week I’ll have the charges reversed.

Hey, I’m being treated like a human by customer service! After my own idiocy!

That won Verizon a few points in my book.

There is a world outside the US border, strange as it may seem.
