Who knows political untruths?

My girlfriend and I were having a dicussion. She sent me a link to THIS new story, and said some thing like “see what we are dealing with”. She does not like Bush at all. I said that I am sure Clinton (who she loved), or any other administration, did the same kind of stuff. She said all Clinton hid was the BJ’s. So my question is, does anyone know of anything, other than the BJ’s, that Clinton was not totally truthful about or withheld from the public? By the way, I liked Clinton and I like Bush. All politicians are the same in my book…either way approximately 50% of the people get what they want, and the other 50% don’t.

They are all equal in my eyes too. I think to climb to the top of the political pile and become president you kinda have to be shady.

“Who knows political untruths? BO knows political untruths!”

Sorry.

Like every politician before him, Clinton hid or misled regarding many things known to him, beginning with all of the classified information that crossed his desk. There’s also the true motivation for most laws that he signed, vetos that he issued, and actions that he took – in these cases, he stated that he cared deeply about the issues and consequences related to these laws, vetos, and actions, when in reality he was either making a deal of succumbing to the inevitable.

This level of dissembling is expected, of course, and government would work far less smoothly if people actually told the truth about everything (that would be a good thing, in the eyes of some). The fact is, both the Clinton and the Bush adminisrations were/are quite open about their policies and their connections. The Bush administration is considerably more defiant toward congressional oversight, however, and that’s really what your girlfriend is complaining about.

This is probably better suited to Great Debates, so I’ll move this thread over there.
