you know, like the cars that you see all the time in 50’s mob movies. i would like to buy one!! i was on ebay and buick special looks similar but i would just like to know if there were any different ones. thanks in advance, god i love this place.
Better post a link to that Buick, to give us non-initiates an idea what it looks like. When I think mobster car, I think thirties and forties (think: the cars in the movie Johnny Dangerously). When I think of mobster cars of the fifties, the image is of a T-Bird, a la Thunder Road.
'Course, all of that’s just me. Also just me: For contemporary ersatz mobster car looks, go for the PT Cruiser.
or sorry bout that i wasnt thinking. looking at these little pics on the right hand side i think u will get the gist of what i am talkinb about

I looked at links, the only pics I saw were of Mustangs, and what looks like a 30s Zephyr (Lincoln/Merc).Don’t know if there’s one hiding on me there.
A Jpeg woud be enlightening if possible.
If you’re talking * original * Capone era you’d probably be talking Caddy/Lincoln or Packard.
If for fifties movies about the current crop, depends on studio the same cars, with an occasional Buick and Chrysler Imperial thrown in.
Then as now,the boys like big plush cars.Moonshiners were more the hotrod type.
Playboy types of the 30s (which includes some gangsters),would probably have a Stutz,Cord or Deusy.
Buicks,BTW,back in the day were known by some as Doctor’s cars.
If I were Tony Soprano in 1965.

It would have to be black though…
I think Al Capone’s car was an armor plated Cadillac. The Ford Model A was the choice of Bonnie and Clyde, as well as John Dillenger, who sent Henry Ford fan mail at one point.
If you’d like to get an armor plated modern car, Armor Holdings is the company to see. They’re the world’s leading supplier of anti-kidnap, anti-terrorist cars and training. They also make personal bullet stopping armor.
does anyone have model names for the cadillac/lincoln and packard cars? that would be excellent
This site has some information on various car models. Scroll down to the American cars section.
Your are looing for open cars (convertibles) - specifically phaetons - these were used as gunships - for an idea of the lines, see
