Working dilligently on obtaining that Camaro as we speak !
Of course, coming from Flint MI - the birthplace of Billy Durant, I think you can understand my bias.
Some nice choices from all of the previous posters as well. Lets Race !
We can race, as long as it aint just in a straight line
5. 49 Mercury
4. 93-95 Mazda RX-7
3. Ruf Porsche Turbo (pretty much any year)
2. 84-85 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE (2nd slowest car on the list behind the Ghia)
- McLaren F1 (fastest street car ever for a cool million)
dead0man
Um, I can actually only think of one. Hudson Hornet, 4-door, either recarbureted or fitted with fuel injectors, any year before '54 but I like the grilles of the '51s best. I am absolutely determined to own one someday no matter what.
Ye Gads, you guys are so… American.
- Ferrari 250 GTO (1962)
- Bugatti Royale (Preferably this one - 1931)
- Citroen SM (1972)
- Porsche 911 Carrera RS (1973)
- Peugeot 404 Cabriolet 1968)
And, this thead is off to IMHO.
- Corvette, pretty much any years outside of the early 50’s, and '73-'95 or so
- '67 - '70 Camaro
- '67 - '70 Mustang
- '71 Ford Torino 429 Super Cobra Jet
- Can’t remember the name, but it was this little plastic car at the NY Auto Show. The body panels looked like Playskool plastic, no paint, molded plastic, it was just so CUTE!
BTW, my dad was Mr. Dream Car, an auto body shop owner with a love of muscle cars. He owned, at one time or another, the following dream cars:
'68 Corvette convertable 427 (he had a 454 in it for a while for some extra ‘zip’)
'68 Shelby Cobra GT500 (a rare one with a 390 instead of the std 427)
'68 Camaro RS/SS convertable
'71 Ford Torino 429 SCJ (very cool with the ‘shaker’ hood scoop, one of my faves)
An adorable ‘dune buggy’ made out of a VW bug, purple metallic paint, wide tires and a rubber bulb horn attached to the windshield (it was stolen )
Growing up in his house was way cool
Why do Americans always like old cars that don’t go round corners?
Anyway,
Ah, the Miura. Would have been my #6!
Just for your reference Monsieur Blue Sky, but a dear man I know owns a very prestigious European automobile franchise here in my town. For a few months I was doing some contract work for him and I was based above the showroom floor in the “boardroom” as they call it. During that period, a lot of super duper schmicko cars came thru the premises, including a car which will be of interest to you - a 1985 4 valve 5 litre v12 Contach - a very collectible desirable car.
So one day I asked to be taken for a drive in it, and let me tell you, I was really disappointed. Not in the driveability mind you - it went like pure stink to be honest - but purely the build quality. The dash had hand layered black leather over a wooden frame - it really was totally slap and dash.
At the same time, there on the showroom was a brand new ‘AUDI’ built Lamborghini 6 litre V12 Diablo and the difference in build quality was light years - literally light years.
For those of you who would consider putting a Lamborghini in your wishlist, the newest “Audi” spec Diablo’s really are something special.
My personal faves would be…
(1) The Ferris Beuller Ferrari 250 California
(2) 1964 Ferrari 250 LM (Le Mans winner)
(3) 1957 BMW v8 convertible (507 I think)
(4) McLaren F1 (yeah baby)
(5) Lexus Sedan (the top of the model one - I love silence and my car hi fi)
Regards guys!
Audi built, no. Audi funded, yes. In 1985, Lambo was owned by Chrysler. They didn’t understand that it’s perfectly normal to lose money on a supercar brand.
- 2003 GT40
- 1969-70 BOSS 428
- 1968 GT-500KR
- 1956 Thunderbird
- 1969-70 Mach 1 with the Cobra Jet 427
What can I say? I’m a Ford guy.
1-5: mini cooper
- 2002 BMW M5
- 2002 Porsche 911 GT2
- 2002 BMW M Coupe
- 2002 BMW M3
- 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena
- 1942 Packard Clipper club sedan
- 1949 Cadillac Series 62 sedanet (fastback)
- 1941 Cadillac Sixty Special
- 1957-8 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
- 1953 Cadillac Eldorado
See, there’s a difference between these and a lot of the other folks’ choices here. When you’re driving something like a Ferrari or Lamborghini you want to get somewhere in a hurry.
When you’re driving a Cadillac, you’re already where you want to be.
Zap!
I want one of the fully stocked dusenbergs from the mid teens to say the 30s I dont know exactly how long they were made
