Having just spent the last couple of days watching CNN World for election results, I’ve seen many travel commercials featuring beautiful women. Amongst my friends, it’s usually the wife/female partner who does all the vacation planning so I would think travel commercials should have hot men in them instead. What about you - who makes your vacation decisions?
My spouse, absolutely. She does in-depth research on any destination to see what will be open and when, which restaurants are recommended, hotel comparisons, concerts being given during our stay and ticket availability, purchases tickets and passes online, etc. She’s amazing. Before her, I would just get on a plane, go somewhere, and then bitch because the museum was closed for renovations.
Mine is easy: Ocean City starting the third week of September. My mom, girlfriend, Aunt Mary and I go each year and stay at the same place and usually do the same stuff. My mother plans things, but it’s really just a holiday template of sorts that we use annually, so it plans itself. It may seem boring, but it’s familiar, comforting, relaxing and without too many surprises.
Sometimes in February I go to Florida for about four or five weeks with my boyfriend, and if we do anything I’m usually the one to plan and bug his ass to execute it, but the two of us are pretty much happy hanging out at home. Yes, hold me back, I’m crazy, baby.
The family control freak, which is to say, me.
Most of my vacations are planned by the people that run board gaming conventions! The organizers pick the location and hotel, a friend and I drive there, pay for admission and a room and voila instant vacation.
LOL…I plan my own vacations…I’m single…
Here is one of the bitches I met on my most recent vacation in October
this might be a good thread to use my sig in…

Typical man - taking ass-shot pix on his vacation!
Mrs. Napier does.
I do, for the most part. I usually consult Typo Knig before confirming anything, but I’m the one who does the bulk of the research, makes the bookings etc.

Except for last spring, when we went to Athens, Crete, and the Peloponnese. Ukulele Lady dealt with a Greek travel consultant who was a friend of her aunt’s. Who turned out to be as much of a control freak as U.L., who slowly broke free from her restraints and was bossing the rest of the family as much as ever by the end of the trip (the travel lady hadn’t wanted us to go to the Peloponnese at all, but by God U.L. did).
We’ve done two trips sans children over the past two years (Pianola and Banjo were away at camp). Both involved bicycles, and were organized by a group called Iron Donkey. You show up in your destination country, check into a B&B, and a guy shows up the next day with bikes and maps. You do as much or as little of the cycling as you like, so long as you end up at the next night’s B&B, and your luggage is there waiting for you.
It was an awfully nice way to see Umbria and the Connemara, I’ve got to admit.
