Who plays air hockey table

I’m the huge fan of air hockey table. I’m trying to play at least 2-3 times a week with my friends in one local bar. Also, we have blog about air hockey and write tips and tricks… I want to hear your opinion about air hockey game and your experience of playing it. Maybe we get some inspiration for our blog to write great content.

I play air hockey once in a while at the bar or (back in the day) the kid’s sized version at Chuck E Cheese. It’s a fun competitive thing that one doesn’t take too seriously.

Good luck with your blog.

Are there really any advanced tactics for this game?

There is the straight shot (which seems to work more often than it should) then there is banking it off one or two sides. Finally there is the shot where you put the puck against a side and slam the back quadrant of the puck as hard as you can and it goes flying towards the goal. What else is there?

As far as defending, is there any tactic other than what everyone does?

I prefer the “look a monkey” technique for getting a goal.

And air hockey rocks.

Nah, rocks are too heavy to be held up by the air. The plastic pucks work much better.

Does the blog exist yet? Can we see it, or would that break anonymity?

Really thin pieces of slate work great, and are awesome when they shatter…

Well, on defense you can play it safe by hanging back near the goal, or take a chance by leaning forward, giving your opponent less time to react to your countershot. The danger is that you misjudge your shot and you are out of position to respond to the next shot.

So there is some strategy involved, I think.

Yes, you can see some tactics and tricks on youtube.

Yes, you can check my blog about [air hockey table](http://www.bestairhockeytableguide.com), but I still work on content and adding some tips and tricks. Also, want to put some youtube video.

For beginners, do not play back in your goal. Playing reactively is a great way to lose.

As you can see from FTL’s links, excellent players

  1. Play well forward, and
  2. Work on a control and serve game.

What I mean by control and serve is that extended rallies are for the birds. When your opponent takes a shot, the ideal action is not to strike the puck back at them but to corral it and control it, and then set up a high powered shot of your own. Note that “topping” the puck - putting it underneath your mallet to control it - is against the rules, so controlling it is a matter of skill.

You keep referring to the game as “air hockey table”. The game is called air hockey. An air hockey table is what you play the game on. That’s like saying you like to play baseball diamond.

I played Soccer Field in high school.

I tried out for Basketball Court in Junior High, but I realized I wasn’t very good.

I ran Track Track.
