Well, it’s not me. No way, no how. I’m certainly not smart enough to be plotting world domination with an army of killer laser robots with jetpacks. So if you think I’m that smart, you’re dead wrong. I’m just a dumb schmuck like the rest of you plebians, with no intention whatsoever to use his God-like intellect (which I do not possess) to rule the world.
I’m going to say Tom~ of tomndebb (although for all we know, Debb could be the real brains of the outfit). Tom has repeatedly posted answers that were not only correct but were fully researched and cited. Once Tom answers answers a question, you can close down the thread.
Two other posters whose intelligence I have nothing but the highest regard for are C K Dexter Haven (who is rumored to associate with Cecil himself - obviously genius rubs off) and Bermuda999 (who no longer posts here).

I would like to dispel the misconception that answering GQ questions is no more than merely a matter of Googling. To really dig into a question, often it helps to have read widely, to be able to draw upon a wealth of associations and connections in one’s memory, and to have a library of books at hand to research knowledge further than Google can take you.
Lot’s of smart people here. I echo the votes for Polycarp &TomnDebb, both with an an amazing depth of knowledge, posted in a balanced fashion.
Anthracite amazes me in her knowledge of so many subjects, from her engineering specialty to literature and visual arts.
In another aspect of “smart”, TVeblen and Scotticher are geniuses at being able to see the points of conflict on this board, cut through the crap, and give their best heart to try to solve problems. Smart hearts!
And, Eve, is really in a class by herself. Smart in her factual entertainment knowledge, sure, but sharp as a razored lorgnette with her humor and wit on any subject.
Shirley Ujest, as evidenced on this thread, is a pretty sharp cookie. She always makes ya laugh, at just the right moment.
Most of the rest of all y’all are pretty sharp, too.

Well Joey, I’m going to have to side with Jomo here, whose point was that if you don’t already know what to look for, you might have a bit of trouble getting there (at least in a timely fashion).
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think they are all like that. I just don’t think that most of the questions in GQ are on the same level as what Cecil answers.
We could try to find the smartest person through the process of elimination.

I shall watch this thread with interest. My current project is to combine Eve’s DNA with Cecil’s to create the Perfect Being, but having a bit of a hard time pinning either of them in order to extract a sample…
