just a factual question. where can i find the list of conress people who voted for the dmca?
i want to be sure no one who voted for the dmca gets my vote next election.
oh and i should add googling was not helpfull. the best i found was a link that said “who voted for the dmca” how ever it just linked to a copy of the dmca.
I also googled – found a page in the Congressional Record which suggests that the House approved the DMCA on a voice vote (so no one’s on record as having voted one way or the other).
Having looked at the legislative summary of the DMCA, I can’t find any reference to a recorded vote in either house; a pretty neat trick, if true.
Apparently, it passed the Senate by a unanimous vote (so don’t vote for any senator who was in office then) and passed the House by a “voice vote” rather than a “roll call vote”, so the votes of individual reps. was not recorded.
In short, you know which senators (all of them) and can never know which reps., unless you go watch a tape of the vote on C-SPAN and try to read everyone’s lips.
