Back to the “treason thing” again. Well I am all for walking up to Rush and handing him a draft notice. Sure. The way to show support is to kill more troops for a bad cause. Murtha is well known in Washington as one man the military can count on for honest support. Meanwhile, how’s it going with the VA benefit cuts, the curtailment of delayed stress treatment, body armor, etc.? The Bush Rumsfeld way is to “use the army you have, not what you wish you had”. In other words, don’t prepare, plan, or properly equip them. Just send them out with no plan, keep sending them back until they die, keep them from getting out - stop lost (backdoor draft) and then fuck them out of their benefits. No, Murtha was calling it the way it is. Meanwhile, let’s cut taxes for the rich guys.

As opposed to Bush’s so called “plan” which was so broad, so vague, so full of shit that the NY Times (among others) savaged it completely and asked that Bush somehow be returned to reality. Bush’s only “plan” is to stay the course until victory - the short version is just keep ignoring reality.

Indeed. I thought some Audio commentary by Rush would be a nice springboard to a debate about Iraq–and also to the phenomenon of The Rush Limbaugh Show itself. I’m curious how this guys sentiment can be adhered to by so many when I think he uses every tactic in the book to avoid actual debate. I wanted to hear actual people debate these issues intead of just cringing in traffic as I make my way home.

From my angle, I believe this sheister should appologize to congressman Murtha for unfairly presenting what he (Murtha) actually said. I want to hear from conservatives that defend this line of thinking.

I think the audio file is a great way to introduce debate. I’m sorry if it’s not done more often.

Or, assuming Mr. Limbaugh’s opinion is somehow fact, which I don’t, maybe it’s because they think there is real danger in the Middle East, and the current actions of the US are increasing rather than reducing that danger.

I would like to hear some rational explanation why a decorated veteran of Korea and Viet Nam, and one of the most influential elected officials concerned with military matters, would suddenly up and decide, for purely partisan reasons, to “undermine the effort”. Sorry, doesn’t compute.

Meh. I looked into this thread expecting something interesting and/or surprising – e.g., Rush now supports withdrawal from Iraq. (After all, a lot of other conservatives have gone over.) But this is all predictable. And, I think, says little on which any conservative or pro-war Dopers would care to hang their arguments for Staying the Course; the signal-to-noise ratio is too low. And is the “phenomenon” of Rush Limbaugh even worth discussing any more?

Rush is a radio talk-show host that entertains while offering his opinion. Much as any personality on Air America. Is he popular because of his veiws, or because of the content? There’s a debate in itself.

The truth is, Rush offers entertaining opinon, whether you “buy into it” or not.
A lot of people here will lump Savage in with the so-called “BushBots”. I’m guessing you’re one of them. But if anyone actually listened to the Savage Nation they’d know Savage is almost as ardently anti-Bush as Pelosi and Schumer. Savage a couple nights ago called on conservatives to vote independant, or avoid the polls altogether, if the GOP offers up a Bush clone. What a partisan!

As a resident of a city that has a major USAF base that an enlightened one such as yourself would consider rural, I’ll just say FUCK YOU and leave it at that. Grow up.
