No access to books or anything of the sort (Saaaad panda). I’m taking a gander at the Wikki stuff as we speak, and will hopefully at least have an idea this afternoon.
Upon looking at the Wikki, the Zenith looks interresting. Was thinking along the lines of a wandering laborer who’s just amazingly tough and looks out for other down-trodden. Personality-wise, I’m looking at the anime Golden Boy, although a little less lecherous and humorous. Does this make sense for the genre? I could use advice just due to my general inexperience with the game.
I would be interested.
1: I have the core rulebook for 2nd, and may pick up others if I feel the need.
2: No play experience, but I have read the rulebooks.
3: No major likes or dislikes.
4: No character sheet at present. Will put together a Dawn hits-things-with-sword and send it on to you.
Okay, Matey, you be the solid guy, and I’ll be the one who gets 'em from behind when they play you for a fool.
Keep in mind, y’all, that social combat is a very real and very relevant skillset in Exalted. You need more than just Charisma points to win at it…
My point is that three folks purely specialized in combat aren’t gonna know what the hell to do at an audience with the Council of Entities, let alone persuading anybody to help. That doesn’t mean one person takes all those skills (though one could try), just hoping that you balance yourselves at least slightly. We can talk as you fill out character sheets.
ArrMatey!: you should expect a PM in about half an hour with the link to download my PDF copy of the 2nd Edition rules. Obviously it’s a copyright document, so don’t share it about
hi Priam en others
I would like to play as well, I’m thinking of a firewand wielding traveler from the southern city of Gem, easy on the eye, and with a talent for making unusual friends(eclipse)
not smart enough to be full fledged diplomat more the kind of men want to have as friend and the ladies want right now!
Yay! So we’re up to four folks.
willthekittensurvive - Eclipse caste gunslinger
E-Sabbath - Night caste trickster
robertliguori - Dawn caste “ME SMASH!”
ArrMatey - Zenith caste … I’ve never seen Golden Boy.
If you’re having trouble making up a character sheet, I highly recommend the anathema program that willthekittensurvive posted earlier.
OK so I can’t send you a PM, ArrMatey! Can you give me your e-mail address?
Sent you an email with my return addy. Go nuts!
'Getting ‘em from behind’ works in ways besides mere physical combat.
Oh, oh! Pick me! I wanna join! I’ve been playing Exalted for years and I haven’t yet had a chance to try an online game. I have access to 1st and 2nd edition (did we ever get that one hammered out?) and character sheet stuff.
I can’t help but think that five characters would make a perfect circle if the group had a Twilight Caste. If I were to make one, I’d probably think along the lines of a scavenger lord from the Nexus. Maybe with some ties to the Guild?
yay a perfect cirlce!
do we get extra good stuf for that?
btw i never played a exalted character with a firewand before(or any combat skills actually)
does anyone know if the range increasing power of “There is no wind” works with firewands?(I want use background points to make mine an artifact, if that helps)
To my knowledge, all the Archery charms can be used like that. If you have the Scroll of the Monk expansion, you could also check out Righteous Devil Style. It’s particularly designed for the gunslinger type.
Imaginary Fiend: Sounds like a good resume to me
Work up a sheet.
If you’ve got something made up everyone, you should e-mail it to me at dougmeredith84@gmail.com
Hrm. Reading more… Twilight caste might be more appropriate. A Sejani (if that’s the appropriate nomanclature for someone from that area) mortician / death ritualist might be interresting. Not sure if I’m going young-undead-hunter or older-wiser-lore-master type just yet. I lean towards the later, usually, in RP situations, but I worry about my lack-of-game-world-knowledge.
Erk, didn’t realized Twilight had been grabbed. Since I like the idea of someone from the city of the dead, I’m betting my Zenith worker made a lot of coffins or elaborate tombs.
Zenith works pretty well in that concept, actually. Keep in mind that the Zenith caste are the priests of the Unconquered Sun and blessed with the ability to send the dead on their way to the next life, as well as repel or destroy creatures of darkness.
I was thinking of starting of with vanilla archery, just one martial art Excellency for when I cant use my firewand baby, and using xp to get the firearm martial arts
Priam I wil mail you my first character sheet draft as a pdf,but it is still work in progress,
I will try to work on my backstory when I have time, nothing to long I promise
basic idea is a wanderer from the city of Jem, (big city in southlands in a vulcano)
Had to flee from either the wyldhunt or a firewand wedding ceremony(story changes a lot), these days I make jade making firepowder in the river Provence’s, and occasionally saving creation
Oh, about time, I have a popfestival this weekend so I wont be posting then
The Scavenger Lands are where people go to find their fortune in the ruins of the fallen ancients. These brave explorers are often promptly eaten. Those who survive are often promptly robbed by scum on their way back to town.
I rob those scum. My name is Friday. I carry a stick.
Hey. A perfect circle! Eclipse! Night! Dawn! Twilight!
By your powers combined… I am CAPTAIN CREATION!
My name is Dhorain. Some call me Dhorian the Farmer.
I met a bandit chief once, who took a look at my threadbare clothing, my calloused hands, and my mule-drawn cart, and told me that he was personally insulted that the village would send a lowly farmer to speak to him, and that they would suffer for their impertinence. He didn’t ask what I might wear under my clothing, or what I might wield that needs an entire cart to conceal it.
The bandit chief lives still, or at least he did when I left him. I have been called many things. I have had a title or two. But no title or award is sweeter than the contempt and disregard of a foe, taught a dire lesson about the perils of arrogant and callous disregard of those they considered beneath them.
