Who was "Christmas Carol," anyway?

…and other misunderstandings of youth.

I remember wondering who the Harold Angels were.

More recently, my twisted brain heard (in Silent Night) …“round yonder gin mother and child”

Any others, real or imagined?

I always thought they were directions… go “round yon virgin” and make a left

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.

Well, in the song “You Sexy Thing”, as performed by “Hot Chocolate” (and recently heard in the movies “Boogie Nights” and “The Full Monty”), they sing

“I believe in miracles, … you sexy thing”

For some reason, as a kid, I always heard it as “I believe in knuckles.” But so many mysteries eluded my grasp as a youngster that I never realized the extent of my stupidity until I heard the song again in 1997 (when the movies came out).

Christmas carol was the girl who got jealous after everybody jumped for Joy.

“Washing out my winter underwear…”

Bwahhh haah haaah!!!

I read these on a separate page, http://www.kissthisguy.com

From the song “Away in a Manger”

‘The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay’

heard as

‘The little Lord Jesus was eating the hay’

AND

‘The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes’

heard as

‘The cattle are blowing the baby away’

I can’t hear/sing this song anymore without cracking up!
From the song “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”

'Ho Ho! The mistletoe! Hung where you can see!"

heard as

'Ho Ho! The missing toe! A hunger you can see!"

My niece once sang “Hark, the herald angels sing, glory to the bird Don King…”

…round, young virgin…
