My Grandfather used to say he had as much luck as Elisha Gray (sp?)
I couldn’t work out if it meant he was lucky or unlucky because I never heard of Elisha.
Can someone put me out of my misery and help me finally understand my Grandfather ( 15 years too late!!!)
It means bad luck. Elish Gray was an inventor who submitted a document declaring his intention to file a patent application for a telephone, only two hours after Alexander Graham Bell filed an actual patent application for the telephone. Litigation ensued, and Bell won.
