Who was the celebrity?

On Distraction (silly game show on comedy central) one of the guests claimed that he slept with a celebrity. He wouldn’t say who, but he gave a hint: she starred in a movie in the 80s that should have won Best Picture, and she’s been in Playboy twice.

Anybody have any guesses?

Assuming the contestant meant that the movie the actress was in was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, but did not win:

  1. Nastassja Kinski, Tess. She had at least two pictorials in Playboy.
  2. Cathy Moriarty, Raging Bull.
  3. Susan Sarandon, Atlantic City.
  4. Jessica Lange, Tootsie.
  5. Charlotte Rampling, The Verdict.
  6. Debra Winger, Terms of Endearment. Subject of a “20 Questions” interview in Playboy.
  7. Meg Tilly, The Big Chill. Not really a starring role, though.
  8. Sonia Braga, Kiss of the Spider Woman. She had two pictorials in Playboy.
  9. Kathleen Turner, Prizzi’s Honor, The Accidental Tourist. She was the subject of a Playboy interview.
  10. Barbara Hershey, Hannah and Her Sisters. Subject of a “20 Questions” interview in Playboy.
  11. Helena Bonham Carter, A Room With a View.
  12. Sigourney Weaver, Working Girl.
  13. Melanie Griffith, Working Girl.
  14. Geena Davis, The Accidental Tourist.

The most obvious movie in the 1980’s that didn’t win best picture but should have was Raging Bull. Googling shows that Cathy Moriarty appeared in Playboy at least once, although apparently not in any major layout. I think she’d be the most likely one.
