Who was the first white person to wean an afro hairstyle?

Leo Sayer?

I don’t know what the right answer is, but I’m sure it wasn’t Leo Sayer. There was a white guy on the old TV show Room 222 who had an afro. That show was on before anybody heard of Leo Sayer. Also, I think Carlos Santana wore an afro around the same time.

“Who was the first white person to wean an afro hairstyle?”

[mental image of woman breast-feeding Angela Davis’ hair. Eve has to lie down for a moment.]

My uncle Dan. Hehe…

Jman

Don Henley?

Art Grafunkle in the 60’s

Not sure if he was the first, but Bob Ross certainly needs to be mentioned.

 make that Atr Garfunkle

Carlos Santana is white?

Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding (of The Jimi Hendrix experience) got afros at their manager’s suggestion. Did Garfunkle precede them?

It’s been twenty five years, but before even opening this thread the title alone brought back memories of Bernie’s (David Jolliffe) hair. You can see it in all its glory at:

I have a picture of my grandmother ( born 1890) when she was like 15 years old who posessed a massive head of wirey hair. She looks like a white woman with a light brown fro wearing a turn of the century hat on top that is quite silly looking.

this post has no value whatsoever.
