Who were those guys?

Remember, in the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, everyplace BC & SD went, they kept looking behind and seeing riders following them at a distance. And they kept asking “Who are those guys?”

So was the question ever answered?

Yes, it was a group of U.S. marshalls and others who had been sent specifically to catch Butch and Sundance, led by U.S. Marshall for Wyoming Joe LeFors.

The full posse was made up of LeFors, who they recognize at a distance by his trademark white straw boater, the legendary Indian tracker Lord Baltimore (“He could track anybody. Over anything. Day or night.”) plus Jeff Carr, George Hiatt, and T. T. Kelliher, hired by E.H. Harriman of the Union Pacific Railroad to hunt them down relentlessly.

This is better suited to Cafe Society.

“If he’d just pay me what he’s paying them to stop me robbing him, I’d stop robbing him!”

Brilliant.

The one man was T.T Kelliher who later became a chief special agent for the Illinois Central Railroad. He’s my great great uncle.
