I remember flying into the Atlanta airport when I was little kid, and seeing a pair of men handing out brochures on how safe nuclear power is, and they had this obviously homemade posterboard with a picture of Cindy Crawford glued to the front. “Nuclear reactors. As well-built as Cindy Crawford!,” it said, or something to that effect. They were rather loud, calling out to passersby in the terminal in what was clearly a rather practiced fashion.
They were well-dressed and seemed articulate, quite approachable even with the freakish poster. I’ve always kind of wondered who the hell they were…it’s been maybe 15 years. Members of a political group of some sort? Pro lobbyists? Nuke moonies?
Over the years I’ve seen tantalizing references crop up concerning this group (?), but never gotten an explanation. I tried googling to no effect, can someone help me out?
