Who will be Clinton's running mate?

I don’t hate any of the potential running mates, but I will yawn a bit if it’s Kaine.

Oh I’m yawning already. He’s a complete snooze fest. But I think Hillary wants to lull some disaffected conservatives over with someone who is white, male, bland, middle of the road, southern, nuanced approach to abortion, etc etc etc. She already has a lot of independent voters who are disgusted by the thought of a Trump presidency, now if she could only snatch some disgusted Republicans too.

It’s like she doesn’t need to pick someone to win my vote. She has it wholeheartedly. I’d like a Warren or Perez, but who gives a shit what I (and people like me) want. It’s other people she needs to think about.

I like her too, but the party could be afraid of putting two women on the ticket. Wouldn’t bother me at all, but Trump’s misogynists might flood to the polls.

OTOH, Trump wouldn’t be able to control himself and say countless stupid things about women during the next few months. AND… plenty of Bernie supporters love Elizabeth Warren too. If that’s the case, go Liz!

I sure hope no one makes a typo and she winds up with Kanye.

I don’t understand it either, but I personally know more than one serious Bernie supporter who says that there is no way that they will ever vote for Hillary. It’s likes a badge of honor for them. They’ll either write in Bernie, vote for the Green candidate, or just abstain altogether.

If you try to persuade them, they’ll start going on about how it’s their vote and you have no right to try to usurp it. As if political discussion is somehow a violation of their rights. It’s maddening.

I am so with you on this. I make a quip about how long it takes to count votes in CA, and I get three posts on telling me how important a paper trail is, AND they’re bitching that it wasn’t properly counted! Plus, most of the shit memes they post are so anti-Hillary I can’t believe some of them don’t fact check.

In short, it’s no different than dealing with Trump supporters.

Well yeah, baiting Trump to be well, Trumpian, would be a big plus. The misogynists are already voting against HRC; getting Trump to keep pissing off women, especially White women, who went for Romney by 14 points, is a gift from the gods.

And no question Warren would have Trump apoplectic. I love Clinton but her career and long experience having every phrase dissected has her evaluating every word she says three times in her head before she speaks. Warren is smart, quick, and full of righteous anger at the very concept of Trump. I don’t agree with everything she says but if she was mad at me I’d hide. She’s no stump speech on repeat loop.

Sanders is 74.

Trump turns 70 on Tuesday.

Clinton is 68.

.

Yeah. When you’re looking at someone almost two decades into AARP eligibility, you really don’t want your veep six years older than the president.

One word: trade. Clinton’s free trade record is just too reliable, despite her election year conversions. Trump’s threatening to make CEOs bring jobs back. No one’s getting to Trump’s left on that issue.

It probably won’t be Tim Kaine, but yeah, snoozefest. Who wants someone so qualified one heartbeat away from the Presidency when we can have someone exciting, someone ideological, someone inexperienced?

We need to put our resources behind Al Franken. Why?

He is aggressively pro-science.

He is articulate and speaks well in public (see any YT video of his senate speeches).

He is not embarrassing to listen to (unlike Bush, Bush, Nixon, etc.).

He is a Democrat (need I say more?).

He has experience (2 terms as US Senator).

He doesn’t shrink from the hard questions (see YT senate grilling of Kagen and others in committees).

He does his research and comes to the table prepared. With facts, not opinions. (See YT speeches). He seems to know law, especially constitutional law (Kagen confirmation).

He appears to be on the side of the consumer and the little guy, not the establishment (just my opinion). sample

He can be firm without being obnoxious (more of my opinion).

He is funny (SNL). Hey – a genuinely funny politician can’t hurt! I’d rather have Putin laughing than firing off missiles. We can laugh with this kind of leader, not laugh AT him, like Trumpus.

“The election was stolen, dammit and Hillary’s a (fill in Karl Rove generated peopaganda here)!!!”:rolleyes:

Why is Elizabeth Warren constantly shaking her fist? It’s such an old lady thing to be doing.

In an interview a day or two ago, he said he wouldn’t turn it down (actually, he said he didn’t think any Dem would turn it down). And I’ve been a fan since his old Air America show. But I don’t think there’s a chance in hell.

Try getting off her lawn.

She should have all of Obama’s 2012 states locked down except Ohio and Florida. So, Sherrod Brown or someone from Florida. Since I can’t even think of anyone from Florida, then Sherrod Brown, assuming he vets out OK. He has lib credentials enough to get some of the die hard Sanders crowd to show up.

0% chance of Sanders
0% chance of Warren
0% chance of Kaine, VA should be safe.
0% chance of Castro
0% chance of Perez

Charlie Crist would be an interesting wild card pick. Despite his party switching causing a lot of headscratching here, he remains popular in Florida, plus he’s ready to be President.

0%. He lost 2 years ago to Rick Scott for God’s sake.

Lost to Rubio for Senate in 2010
Lost to Scott for Governor in 2014
Now he’s running for House. He’s moving in the wrong direction.

0% chance of Brown. Why the heck would you vacate a Senate seat for a Republican governor to fill?
