Who will be Clinton's running mate?

At least she’s military gun-totin’. But she’s nowhere near qualified to be VP, so that would be par for the course for Trump.

She’s fully qualified. She’s a US citizen, over 35, and can castrate pigs.

Pshaw, unless she does it with her teeth.

Trump should be worried about that last part.

The real GOP plan to keep Trump in line.

Doesn’t look like she’s exactly eager for the gig: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/joni-ernst-trump-vice-president-225169

The closer it gets to the conventions and the picking of the mate, the more I’m convinced Hillary’s is going to be Tom Perez.

He’s loyal (big thing for Clintons), he and the Clintons really, really get along (new story in Politico today), he’s a progressive/labor-friendly candidate, and this election being what it is (a battle versus the most insane candidate ever) I just don’t think Hillary needs to pick anyone based on home state, gender, race or name recognition. She can pick someone she knows, trusts, likes and actually wants to spend the next 4-8 years working with.

Tom seems to fit the bill. He’s not “too safe,” he’s not “too risky” (adaher’s repeated cries to the contrary notwithstanding), he’s the perfect porridge for Goldilocks. And while everyone’s been yakking about Kaine and Warren and Castro (and they’ve subsequently been picked apart and dinged in the media), he’s been under everyone’s radar getting the snot vetted out of him (but he’ll come out of the gates relatively ding-free).

Clinton-Perez '16. I’m printing my t-shirts today.

It could be Perez (I don’t know much about him), but he’s going to have to shave off that thing on his face. When was the last time a POTUS or VP had facial hair?

Well, I just got an email saying sign up to the first to know who Hillary’s Veep is going to be. So I guess it’s going to be close.

And isn’t Sanders set to endorse her tomorrow? (not that I’m saying there is a shot of him getting asked)

VEEP: Charles Curtis
PRES: William Howard Taft
I say the time is right for a comeback.

I got the email too, and I had the same thought. I doubt Sanders is going to be her running mate, but it would be a dramatic turn to have announce it then.

It won’t be Sanders. They gave him a lot in the party platform because Sanders somehow thinks it means something. Obama did the same text alert thing in 2008, but the text went out around 3 AM because someone had gotten the scoop that it was Biden.

Clinton won’t announce until Trump does (and he has to announce first since the GOP convention is first). If he goes with a sane choice, Pence is about the only one left, she’ll go safe with Kaine. If he goes with some bag of bats that’s more liability than benefit (Gingrich, Christie, general whoever), then she had more flexibility. She won’t finalize it until she knows though.

I don’t know why people think Kaine is “safe.” His biggest weakness is one of hers, too.

Just know that if you nominate Perez, we’ve got a lot of ammunition to fire at him. He’ll be the story, and when has the VP being the story ever been good for the ticket?

Fire up the smoke machine again, Mildred; it’s time to pretend there’s a fire.

How about some highlights for us, then? Or do you have to wait for your leaders to make it up first, as usual?

We already know he’s Hispanic, so don’t be gauche about it.

It’s probably his “lack of experience”. Which is still considerably greater than Trump’s.

Remember: Democrats are “inexperienced”; Republicans are “Washington outsiders needed to shake up the way the government works”.

ETA that he’s also been seen with the Clintons. That’s a black mark for sure.

The stuff you’ve brought up before is an absolute nothing burger.

“Perez is tainted. Rinse. Repeat.”
Are you going to provide some real evidence of Perez’s supposed disqualifying taint? Regardless, no amount of taint could ever out-stink the dumpster fire going on across the aisle.
