Who will Democrats sacrifice errr run against Bush in 2004

I’d say an AL Sharpton/Gary Condit ticket and they will receive around 90,000 votes.

And finish ahead of Pat Buchanan.

You know, I think someone posted the same question about Bush’s father after the Gulf War…

Hi. I am a registered Democrat. But I vote for the best candidate. The Democrat thing is just a way to vote in the primaries, and the Republicans here don’t put multiple candidates in the primaries.

It’s gonna play like this:

If Bush delivers, e.g., terrorism is stopped, or he is making progress against that goal AND he doesn’t crush our economy to do it, he will be invincible in the next election. However, if he shows indecision and does not deliver on these goals, and they are NOT simple goals, then he will be very vulnerable in 2004. As will alot of his party. Tax gimmicks won’t do it.

What are you? 12 years old?

Bush I had a 90% approval rating one year before he was defeated by Clinton.

Haj

Even if Bush handles this situation well, there’s three years for the voting public to forget about it. I really doubt that Bush is a shoe-in for '04. However, the Dems need to find a good candidate… if we have another “Both candidates are the same” that we had this time, I think Bush will push ahead again.

I also doubt that Gore will run again, and I doubt Hillary will make a bid. And since I’m not well-versed in political figures, I don’t really know who would be a good Dem candidate. Perhaps the current Majority Leader? Anyone else have any ideas as to who would be a good candidate? It would be interesting to see one of the Baldwin brothers make a go…

If things go well, and the economy bounces back, George W. will probably win.

Of course, Giuliani will win in a walk in 2008.

The dems don’t stand a chance until 2012.

Have you watched the news at all? This “war” will go on for years. Bush will be re elected by the biggest margin of victory in history.

A lot is going to happen over the next three years. It’s impossible to make any sort of accurate prediction. If the stock market drops another 50% and bin Ladin is still alive, Bush doesn’t stand a chance. I’m not saying this is going to happen. I have no freaking idea…and either do you.

Haj

Well this was meant more as a joke than you seem to have taken it. I was just trying to get people to post funny candidates. But I would bet my life that Osana will either be dead or in custody very soon.
And I dont think anyone is blaming Bush for the stock market.

Dubya didn’t win the last election, why should he win the next one?

You win the election by getting most Electoral Votes. Bush did that. He won.
If you don’t like it, write your Congressperson and State Legislature. Tell them to repeal the Electoral College. It’ll never happen. Too many small states like it.

It’s hard enough to predict the next week and a half at the moment, but it isn’t that unlikely that Bush will make some big mistake(s) that will lead to another Republican candidate in 2004. (Giulani? Depends on the next 3 1/2 years, voters have a very short-term memory.)

I am a resident of the state of Florida. IMHO, the only reason that the Shrub won the election was because his brother (I call him the Hedge) is the Governor. Something about that just smells funny.

On a positive note, I will say that, while I still don’t like the Shrub, he’s doing a better job with this situation than I thought he would. Does that mean I’m going to vote for him in '04? No way.

Right now Democrats and Republicans are hugging each other and Democratic consultants say prayers for our President. It is a time of crisis and we all hang tough together and all support him. But I question the endurance of that support against a war of attrition like this. LBJ was popular at the start of Viet Nam’s escalation. Terrorism/fanaticism is hard to defeat. We can secure the airports and they can car bomb the Golden Gate Bridge or the Lincoln tunnel or … who knows what.

I am a Democrat and I pray that Dubya wins the next election, because that will occur only if his Powell/Rice/Rumsfeld team is able to stop terrorism cold and quickly.

All right then, how about Bill Ayers! He has experience!

“To stop a terrorist, you must think like one!”

If the “war” or whatever it is too drawn-out, that could actually be a vulnerability to Bush. We’re Americans dammit, we want quick results!

I was about to say something snotty about not being able to mindread your intentions.

Then I reread the original post.

whoose

Sorry about that chief.

Can I try again? … No, better not. The ones I’m coming up with are just a little too sick at this point in time.

I am sorry I missed the point. That special last night really got to me.

You want humorous suggestions? I can’t think of anything funnier than Gore v. Bush.

Realistically? Who can say. Bush Sr. lost the election with the most overwhelming US military victory ever under his belt, and Bush Jr. isn’t going to get a short, victorious war out of this. Remember, Americans don’t like long, drawn-out conflicts. Ultimatly, I think the political fallout of this attack is going to hurt Bush in 2004, not help him. A talented, experienced, competent politician might be able to survive this. Bush is out in three years. Who replaces him? No idea. Who had ever heard of Bill Clinton in '89?

Well if you want a funny suggestion, how about Susan Sontag & Michael Moore (Sontag probably the Prez. candidate, due to better educational resume, Moore as VP).
Both have recently written about how the U.S. is at fault for WTC for past foreign policy actions.
Can you imagine the campaign ads on that one? Would make Willie Horton ad look like a douche commercial…

You know, I keep remembering this SNL sketch I saw in a rerun from early 1992. It was entitled something like: Campaign '92: The Race to Not Be the Democrat that Loses to Bush. In the sketch, all the top Democratic candidates (no Clinton, just to show how early this was) were offering reasons why their worthy opponents should be the Democratic nominee, and not them (Cuomo: I have mob ties!).

Somewhat funny then. Even more funny now. Think about it.
