I saw a car today with an advertisement on the side, and it got me to thinking. I am a poor college student, and I am on the road for about 2 hours/day. I would like to make some extra money, and I have some room on the side of my car. Are there companies that would pay me to advertise for them on my car?

Check here. But I don’t know how much you wanna go driving around looking like a corporate puppet. Unless you are into that kind of thing. Better to get a reliable piece of crap and save your dignity.
Do a google search for “car wraps” and you’ll turn up a bunch of these.
Problem #1 is they will only want to talk to you if you have a specific kind of car: Think new Beetle or PT Cruiser
Problem #2 is they will have minimum mileage requirements for the vehicle with all sorts of clauses about how you get paid substantially less if you don’t hit that mileage. At least when I looked into it years ago, some of them even had very specific requirements JUST FOR WEEKENDS. Of course you had to do the out of the way driving to THEIR facility so they could record your mileage too, which adds to the pain-in-the-ass factor.
Problem #3 They want the car washed and clean all the time. That’s fine if you’re a neatness freak, but anything less and again you get the penalty clause and get paid less.
If all that is O.K. with you, go for it. Keep in mind, however, lots of other people are applying too, so don’t plan on getting a call right away.
