Let’s say that I am a high school student writing an essay for a college application, or a humor piece for my school newspaper.
Are there any places where people like me can post their writing to have others comment on it and offer suggestions?

You could always check out egroups and see if they have a writers’ mailing list. They probably do.
You can post it on your web site for us to look at. Some of the people here have a pretty odd sense of critique.
