Who will/should Obama pick as running mate?

Well I still liked the idea Marley … and definitely not Hagel.

foolsguinea … well whadda ya know. Barr’s VP choice is Wayne Allyn Root and yup, he’s a Jew!

You can’t escape us!

General Wesley Clark is the latest front runner.

For those who still had some thought that Hagel was at all a possibility:

According to who? I haven’t seen his name mentioned anyplace (except the Dope) as a likely choice. I can see where people say he fills a hole in Obama’s resume, but I really thought he ran a terrible campaign in 2004 and didn’t know up from down. Maybe he’s improved with time, but I don’t know.

Despite Obama Sibelius being a great name for a Harry Potter villain (per Cervaise), if I had to pick one person, I’d pick Sibelius.

But I think that ‘the field’ (i.e. everyone besides Kaine, Sibelius, Bayh, Biden, and Clark) is a better bet than any one person.

I heard on MSNBC lst week that the Obama campaign had commented that no one would be surprised by his choice, whereas McCain is being much cagier, implying that there might be surprises there. In Obama’s case, I think that allows room for anyone who has been seriously mentioned, including Richardson, Webb, and Clinton, but not for someone out of left field like Hagel.

In McCain’s case, I think we’re looking at Lieberman as a serious prospect. I know, I know, that’s the other thread. Sorry.

Don’t ask don’t tell was the replacement for the old policy - Do ask and kick out. It was an uncomfortable compromise, but at least it was something. I don’t know where Nunn stands on the issue today. After all the queer bashing the right has laid down the last several years, I can’t imagine gays staying home in November in any case.

I came across this article last night which announces that Sen. McCaskill and Gov.Sebelius will both be speaking at the convention. Interestingly enough, Sebelius’s speaking time is yet unannounced.
ETA: Repeat Obama/Sebelius over and over, its got a beat to it!

Obama/Sebelius - the ticket you can dance to

Just got a text message from the Obama campaign. No, it wasn’t the VP announcement like I thought it was. Just a message asking for my zip code to receive texts from the campaign when he’s in my area.

However, I wonder if they tested their text message system tonight to make sure it worked to send out mass text messages in preparation for a VP announcement? Tomorrow would be a good day.

Tomorrow should be the day. It’s DSeid’s birthday and his predicted announcement date.

Eh. It doesn’t take much to send a mass text message. Consider it a tease.

I hold out hope, but dang, going up against Phelps’ final push for the golds? I’m having my doubts. But if not now, when?

If not now, Monday, I have to assume.

Even aside from that - and Phelps’ next race isn’t on TV until tonight, with the eighth tomorrow night - it runs the risk of getting buried over the weekend. That does argue for waiting a few more days. Personally I want them to just get this over with already.

True, but announcing today gets him the Sunday news shows this weekend. Otherwise, it will be Russia/Georgia.

I figure he’ll get coverage the following weekend because of the upcoming convention.

Yeah, and then there’s the joint forum hosted by that pastor tomorrow night.

I’ll just blow out my candles now.

:frowning:

Monday?

We still think it’s a special day! Happy birthday, DSeid!

I just got texted. If this message is correct, Obama’s choice is Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you, never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.
I hope it’s true.

Was this from the Obama campaign, Dio?

I just sent that post to my husband. He’s gonna KILL me.
