Who will/should Obama pick as running mate?

Well played, sir. Well played. If we could only find some way to do that to everyone on our Facebook group IN UNISON that’d be super-hella-balls-to-the-fucking-walls awesome.

Um…did you read it?

You didn’t link the YouTube video of the announcement!

Obama VP Announcement

yes, but there’s usually a phone number of origin, and if you said it came from the campaign, I thought maybe there was an oops.

Somebody’s whooshing somebody. I’m not sure who’s which, though…

Believe it or not, it’s not me.

ETA: Yes, I really am that dumb. Yes, I am a blonde. Natural, too.

Well it looks like the convention speakers are starting to fill out and to be honest I’m a little disapointed. Here are the speakers for Tuesday. That first picture(Sebelius), and actually the second also(Napolitano), really punches the gut; I’m still hoping for a bait-and-switch, but I’m not really holding my breath.

Biden and Bayh are both speaking on the VP/Security night, Wednesday. I’m really hoping neither is VP. I like Biden but would rather see him in the Senate and taking Reid’s roll as Majority leader. Bayh is just ‘blah’. Nothing I’ve read about him strikes me at all, if not that he might be a bit too hawkish. I have no interest in a white, southern/midwest, male centrist/“safe” pick. However, Richardson is also speaking on Wednesday so I still got hope that one of my picks is in.
Plus there is still this:

I am really disapointed that Rep Joe Sestak(D-PA) is not speaking on that Security-Wednesday. He has done a great job in his short time in the House so far. I have seen him a couple times in the past few weeks on Faux, where he absolutely obliterated Sean sHamity and WcCain over a number of foreign policy issues; just made them look silly. He has been on C-Span where he laid out the most detailed, X’s and O’s plan for withdrawl from Iraq; it was a brilliant piece. I would also love to have the “highest-ranking former military officer to serve in Congress”, a Vice Admiral learn fellow Naval man McCain a thing or two or 37.

We still love you, though.

<blush>:)<curtsey>

Oy, we have enough reason to respect your intelligence that we even accept your being a natural blonde.

tds, I know that I am not the first to point out that speaking orders can be changed once an announcement is made and that very likely those making the speakers schedule are not included in the few who know what Team Obama’s final choice is … if indeed he has settled upon it … he has made it by now, hasn’t he? Probably we are all reading too much into this stuff. Since giving up on Zinni (my long shot) and having moved past having come full circle to Richardson, I’m now betting on Chet Edwards. Safe. Sticks to the story line. Enough of the insider to help get things done but enough of a reformer to still not be perceived as an in the Beltway pick. The balance of positives v negatives is good even although mainly because neither of them are too huge. The list though, short and expanded, is pretty chock full of people with lots going for them (and some with lots going against them too, which again may be more critical to the choice). Even those barely ever mentioned, like Carl Levin, would be fine by me. I even see Hillary’s upside by now. (Albeit I think her downsides rule her out.)

This holding the choice announcement into the last week must tell us something about who the choice is to, but I am not sure what it says. I’ve read somewhere that it means a pretty boring one, since then you are using the convention to excite about the VP choice rather than using the VP choice to get a bounce and buzz all its own. But maybe it could mean a potentially controversial one and you want the controversy quelled by having the convention bump up right against it. I dunno.

I just posted a link to that post to my LiveJournal…it’s already gotten two responses. I’m pure evil.

Thanks, DSeid, but pro-Obama does not necessarily equal “intelligent”.

Why did the talk of Richardson disappear? Does anyone know? It seems like one day he was everybody’s first choice, and the next day he disappeared? I still think he’s perfect; he doesn’t deprive a Senate or a Governor’s mansion of a senior Democrat, he has foreign policy cred out the wazoo, he has executive experience as a governor, he’s young looking, he looks, sounds, and has the last name of an Anglo-American, but he’s Latino. The only bad thing I heard was that he might have a zipper problem. Well, considering that the current Pub nominee cheated on his then crippled wife to marry his now current beer heiress wife (twenty years his junior), I don’t think they’ve got all that much room to maneuver as long as he doesn’t make the Edwards mistake of categorically denying it and making wife and family values the centerpiece of his campaign.

I think it’s that he’d p.o. the Clinton wing too much as they feel he “betrayed” her. Potential negatives outweigh potential positives.

Or it might be that Richardson has a reason to be confident he’ll get a cabinet post he’ll like.

Or both.

OK, I have HAD it!

You have ALL seen me defend Hillary Clinton time after time after time, haven’t you? I like HRC. I would have happily voted for HRC. I think she should be Attorney General. I think she honestly has done her best for Obama since she conceded to him.

But this is enough. The people who are not going to vote for Obama do not get to decide every detail of Obama’s campaign. They do not get to decide who Obama’s VEEP will be. I’m tired of this endless blackmail. If you’re not going to vote for Obama, fine - cut off your nose to spite your face. I’m done with you!

I don’t think that in general this is HRC’s fault. I think she’d stop it if she could. But when it comes to a VEEP choice, that one she has some control over. She can tell her supporters to get over it. What, is Obama required to choose a Clinton supporter? That’s ridiculous!

I expectorate loudly at the backsides of their gardeners’ mothers.

I heard the name Tom Daschle floated today. Please, please, be untrue.

Drudge is dangling Kerry. I’m not biting.

Why? He was Senate Majority Leader. I don’t remember any scandals. Admittedly, any Senate Majority Leader is not exactly a Poster Child for Change, but otherwise, what’s wrong with him?

Chet Edwards? No way. People have heard too much bad stuff with the name Edwards recently for Obama to (hopefully) even consider anyone else with that last name. Maybe I’m underestimating the average voter. I hope so.

Well, there was the devastating 2002 electoral beatdown in which Democrats lost the Senate and Daschle lost his seat, which is NOT supposed to happen if you’re the majority leader. That was kind of a catastrophe.

Whatever Obama is doing, the fact that John Edwards and Chet Edwards have the same last name doesn’t matter. Just a picture on TV will show you they’re different people.
