who would stand a better chance of being relected?

Trump Or Clinton?

It would totally depend on how hard either fell on their ass during their first 4 years.

Is “relected” supposed to be “elected” (as in this year) or “re-elected” (as in 2020 assuming one of them wins this year)?

Trump has gotten this far in part because people believe what he promises: if elected, he’ll build a wall, and it’ll be a big beautiful wall, and Mexico will pay for it – and since you asked ‘how’, the wall just got ten feet higher. And he’ll deport every criminal illegal immigrant in the first hour of his presidency, okay? And if you kill a policeman, the death penalty is going to happen. And birthright citizenship, that’ll be ended; and the debt will be reduced.

Four years from now, people are going to notice if that hasn’t happened; Donald Trump can objectively disillusion his supporters. By contrast, just what has Hillary Clinton promised? Sensible foreign policy? Pro-choice judicial appointments?

relected in 2020.

Do you really think so? Trump’s supporters seem to have an uncanny ability to see the world as they want it to be, or as someone tells them, more than as it actually is. The next four years under Trump could feature worse gridlock than ever before, and Trump would run for reelection by fanning the anger and saying he was the only one who could fix things. And I’m not so sure that some people wouldn’t believe it.

Clinton. If Trump gets elected, Og forbid, and the country isn’t a radioactive waste by 2020, he’ll have quit once the chickens come home to roost.

A lot of people who’ve been enthusiastically backing him seemed to do a spit-take this past week, when he apparently started to tiptoe back from the idea of actually doing the eleven million deportations he’d been loudly touting.

I’m not sure you’re correct. Pace Quartz-bro and others, it’s all about protest: the elites have lost touch with the proles and Clinton is the standard-bearer of the elites, so they’re voting against her, and their standard-bearer is Trump. They don’t care if Trump brings everything crashing down, because they have - or believe they have - nothing and so have nothing to lose.

But if Trump doesn’t accomplish anything, they’ll turn on him.

The only thing Trump would have to do is keep harassing Mexicans and Muslims, while complaining that the illegitimate* congress is preventing him from building his mandated wall.

Making things worse seems to actually help the Reps, so 4 years of Trump causing problems but effectively blaming them on Dems and liberals could help his re-election.

Clinton would have the usual hurdles - no major f***ups, some popular legislation, and a growing economy will be good, portraying the Reps in congress as the problem and them getting the blame will help. Being the third term Dem could be bad for her.

A Clinton 2 reelection in 2020 is far more plausible than Trump reelection, to me.

  • I am not creative enough to know why, but Trump will find a reason. The man is talented, in, but not in ways that would make a good President.
