Who would you like to see cover what song?

Like the title says-what song by one person or group would you like to see covered by what other person or group?
Don McLean’s American Pie covered by Billy Joel
The Beatles’ Revolution #9 covered by Straight No Chaser
Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody covered by ELO

An in-his-prime Bob Dylan covering any of a number of hip-hop songs.

Meatloaf’s Paradise By The Dashboard Light covered by Cee Lo Green and Pink.

Jimmy Buffett covering Disney’s Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)

When I first saw that Johnny Cash had covered “One”, I fervently hoped that it was the Metallica song.

This is the winner.

Another Beatles tune…it would’ve been cool to hear the Moon-era Who cover Helter Skelter.

I’d love to hear Everything But the Girl, or at least Tracey Thorn, cover Wichita Lineman.

+1

Seriously - I’ve always wanted to hear some hard-core band cover “Build Me Up, Buttercup”.

I’d like to hear someone do a bluegrass cover of the Chili Pepper’s song, Californication. I think that Del McCoury and his boys would do a fine job, a fine job.

Black Sabbath?

I was actully thinking Rammstein

No-I’m saving Rammstein for Muskrat Love.

I know we’re having fun, but in listening to the lyrics of “Build Me Up, Buttercup” (don’t shoot me, I was stuck in a store) it would be easy to twist them into an extremely angry song.

I’ve always liked a combination of extremely dark lyrics with upbeat music (Gilbert O’Sullivan’s “Alone Again, Naturally”).

Rammstein covering “Muskrat Love” might answer the age-old question of what a saccharine-powered flamethrower would be like.

The Clouds did a cover of this and it is awesome! You can find it on the CD Collage.

Probably a little outside the box for most here, but I have a few songs I remember fondly from my childhood that could do with a metal cover or update. After hearing stuff like Yngwie Malmsteen’s cover of “Carry on My Wayward Son”, Nevermore’s “Sound of Silence”, an amazing power metal version of “Neverending Story”, and others like those, there’s a few more that I think would work well but have never been done.

Queen’s “Princes of the Universe” covered by Blind Guardian. Hansi’s voice and their style would be just awesome for it. With the rumors of the Highlander remake, I really hope something like this could happen.

Rolling Stones’ “Paint it Black” covered by pretty much any decent Black Metal band, but I’d most love to hear Ihsahn take a crack at it. I think the imagery itself works well, and the melody just lends itself to the tremolo picking and blast beat style. It’d probably come off a little on the cheesy/campy side, but that’d just make it that much more fun.

Don McLean’s “Flight of Dragons” covered by a symphonic Power Metal band, someone like Therion or Epica. It’d be a different spin on it, but I think it has the making for a truly epic piece in the right hands, particularly with some orchestral and choral emphasis.

I’ve had a couple others at times in the past, but can’t seem to remember them now.

I listened to Ella Fitzgerald singing “Treat Me Rough” yesterday, and I thought, this song is screaming to be covered by a male singer. Any male singer. Let’s pick a deep-voiced man who would sing it straight-faced without a wink to the audience, like Mark Lanegan. Someone like the late Mark Sandman could have done it well, too.

Alice Cooper’s Only Women Bleed covered by Elton John

Strawberry Fields Forever done by Bob Dylan
