who would you most like to go on a car trip with?

if you had to go on a cross country car trip and could choose anyone who ever lived to keep you company, who would it be? remember, you will be driving non-stop for days(and the radio is broken)

maybe a model?
or a great thinker?
a writer?
a comedian?
a philosopher?
a religious leader?
a politician?
or if the radio is broken, maybe someone with a pretty singing voice

i might choose Mark Twain(before he got old angry and bitter)
maybe robin williams
but then again, i could listen to aretha franklin sing for a few thousand miles

oh well, who would you pick?

Hands down, no doubt about it Jerry Garcia.

Laurie Anderson

Dennis Miller

I’d have to go with Laurie Anderson too… she has always been one of my major idols. I got to sit third row at a performance about 3 years ago :::::bliss:::::

Good choices, melanie.
Contenders for me:
Oscar Wilde
Janis Joplin
Hunter S. Thompson
Marilyn vos Savant
Dave Barry
Lilly Tomlin
John Prine
Roberta Flack
Jon Stewart
Margaret Cho

OOOOOooooh - nice link.

I have seen her on a few occasions also - I always realize by the end of the show that I have been sitting there weeping. Does she have that effect on you, Opal?

Cecil Adams of course. I’d have a great trip, learn the secrets of the universe, and make everyone else here insane with jealousy.

Alternately, Lauryn Hill and Tori Amos. Both have beautiful singing voices and if we get bored we can take turns making out in the back seat.

A chauffeur (so I can log onto SDMB thru the car phone).

Why doesn’t the sun come out at night when the light would be more useful? (Pratchett)

P.J. O’Rourke.

We’re taking his car; I gotta think he knows cars pretty well since he wrote for, Car & Driver and Automobile Magazine. He’s written some great road trip stories. Plus he’s from my hometown; I’d like to find out what Toledo was like in the early 60’s.

We’d grab the shotguns and leave a trail of duck carcasses scotch bottles, cigar butts from sea to shining sea.

Hey what about [bold]satan[/bold]
Or just anyone in a **Guy stuff[b/] kind of mood.

Mac slowly slinks off to lurkdom.
slink slink slink
I lurk therefore, I am. Or at least I might be?

WOW screwed that up big time. Hey what about satan
Or just anyone in a Guy stuff kind of mood.

Has to be John Irving, love to get inside his head.

Although I do admire a few people, chances are they would end up being a disappointment if I were to drive across the country with them. Therefore, I’d go with someone I’m sure would be a blast.

I would do it in style, though (yes, I know, I’m cheating!) Rent a limo. Get a chauffeur. Get beer and other liquids. Make a left turn and pick Sue up. Go on “The Great North American Adventure: Two Lost Canucks.” Meet others on the way. Yeah, that sounds like fun.

Some drink at the fountain of knowledge…others just gargle.

just read little Nemo’s send and have to agree and include Tori Amos as well…
