I know Roy Orbison had done it earlier and I was told that he is the one that wrote the song, but I don’t believe this is correct.

Also found out the Everly Brothers done it before Orbison. Guess you learn something new every day.

Boudleaux and Felice Bryant worked extensively with the Everly Brothers and cowrote an astonishing number of hits. There’s even more information about them at The Rockabilly Hall of Fame site.
