Whoo Hooo Low carb BEER

I knew It had to come, Michelob’s Ultra isa somethign like 3 carbs per bottle.

I havn’t tried it yet, Has anyone?
Anyone know the alchol content?

I had a couple last night. It’s okay, not much different than a standard Michelob/Mich Light (neither of which I’d normally drink these days). Not sure what the alcohol content was but I didn’t feel any buzz after 3 beers in 1.5/2 hours.

All in all, I much preferred the new Sam Adams Light. But I generally don’t give much thought to calories or carbs in beer.

Michelob?

What the hell?

You americans have wierd beer.
EVERYONE knows that candain beer is better… And you burn all the “calories” from it by running away from polar bears.
One of my favorites is Molsen CANADIAN, labatts blue, and Kokanee. Do you get any of the good stuff way down there?

I wonder if it is tasteless like it’s bigger brothers? I am not a big Michelob fan.

Here’s the information from: http://www.anheuser-busch.com/news/MichelobUltraLaunch.htm

Oh and according to the US Food and Drug Administration, standard beer has about 13.1xx carbs per 12 ounce bottle at 145 calories.

< techchick hasn’t had a beer in over a week. Because of the carbs and the calories. >

There’s a review, for you.

I’ve tried it, and it is VILE! I don’t dislike Michelob, though it’s not the type of beer I drink. If you want to drink and avoid carbs, drink whiskey.

Looks like 4.1% Ach. from that link

I gave it a fair taste test. It has a subtle aroma of sewage. Really, it does. If you want a low carb beer, stay with Miller Lite. It’s cheaper, doesn’t smell foul, and has just slightly more carbs.

Does “3 carbs” mean “3 grams of carbs”?

Well I just got a 6 pack of these bad boys - just couldn’t wait. Normally I don’t drink that much - perhaps once per week but I had to try it. So I stopped off at the local supermerket, Went home and fired up the SDMB. Because the board is slow I’m typing this in a email that I plan to copy into my post.

The supermarket had it cold so I don’t have to wait. Looking at the label I see it’s a lager w/ 2.6 g carbs. It also appears to be a twistoff. I open the cap (and yes it is a twistoff) and not much gas escapes - I wonder if I got a flat one. The nose is just right for a lager (well a mass produced light one at least) and no sewer gas odor. Well here goes…

It drinks a little heaverier then most lite beers and does have a nice smooth flavor. it’s a keeper.
… 2 hrs later…

weLL afterrr abooout 5 or 9 off them there beirs IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII hav 2 say that you Can get drunk oooooooooooff these them beirs.

Wow, he must be hammered cause I’m seeing double…

Anyways, I’ve had quite a few of these puppies, and being the type of guy who digs the macro-brews, especially at $2 bottle night, I feel educated enough to share my opinion.

First, understand that its primarily a marketing ploy. Light Lagers already have significantly reduced carbs. If I remember the little advertisement on the table at the bar, Mich Ultra has 2.9g of carbs, Bud Light and Miller Lite have all of 4g. Also, consequently Ultra has a slightly lower alcohol content, 4.1% vs. 4.5%.

I found the taste to be really muted, even by Light beer standards. I like Bud and Mich products, hate Miller products, and given the choice I’ll drink this over Miller, but not over much else. Especially when I consider that its weaker.

Yes, I quoted both facts as A-B had on their site, and apparently niether of you read my post.

I posted it right there k2, the alcohol content, scroll up. I also posted that according to A-B they claim it to be 2.9 grams of carbs jjim which rounds up to 3.0 grams of carbs when talking to the media.

Read would you? Good word. I posted the link so people could see what the company claims and has to say and both your answers were right here on this page. But niether of you seemed to pay attention to the quote.

When people quote it usually means there’s information from another source you might be interested in.

Good Word, people DON’T FREAKING READ anymore.

Keep that up and no one’s gonna bother to read any of your posts.

Okay magic8ball, you may have cool panties but you’ve got lousy taste in beer if your favourite is Molson Canadian. :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s the point of drinking anything that’s less than 5% alcohol?

I’ve had it. The bar we frequent got a big batch in, and was giving it away, trying to drum up support. My conclusion was that there’s a positive correlation between carbohydrates and taste.

Blech.

I did raed you post - I was the one asking for the input. I was just confirming it.

Ok but noone has mentioned yet how many carbs… ow OW Hey quit it! OW!!!

I LOVE the Mich Ultra. For someone who doesn’t always completely appreciate the “beery” taste of beer, this is a good choice. It tastes less beery. That’s not a good thing for everyone, but it doesn’t bug me in the slightest.
And no problem getting me drunk, either!
