Whooo! I got a job!

So it’s official now…I have a job. I quit Sbarros the first week of November, and have been living since then off my bonus from my summer ice cream job. As of 15 minutes ago, I’m an assistant manager at Wendy’s. It’s not really the path I wanted to take, but it comes with full benefits, a generous starting pay, a 48 hour work week, and tuition reimbursement after a year. If nothing else, I can work for a while, use the tuition help to finance my college, and get myself into a better career.

Even if I don’t become a lifer, I have something to get me out of the house! No more soap operas!!!

What a great after-Christmas present!!

Plus, square hamburgers. Congratulations on your return to the work force! Back to work (whoosh-crack!)

can you get us all a discount?

Frosties for everyone!!!

48 hour workweek? Isn’t that illegal or something?

Last I knew, unless you’re under a certain age (though I have no idea what age), you can work longer, even at an hourly job. I had a factory job in college that had a 50 hour workweek; 10 hours 5 days a week.

Grats on being employed, Pammipoo!

More hours = more money = good

Congrats Pammipoo

As long as you’re paid overtime after 40 hours, they can abuse you as much as they want. During my summer ice cream job, I was working 10-10, 6 days a week. 48 hours sounds a billion times better than 72 hours!!!

Now, about those frosties…

BWAH HAH HAH HAH! Ohh, that’s funny. Hee. Heh. Especially if you’re on salary. Like me.

My boss once asked us (a bunch of web application architects) at a meeting, “What’s the difference between an architect and a consultant?”

Somebody in the back of the room said, “About 30 hours a week.”

I’d say congratulations, but I’m too envious and bitter.
What the heck… Congratulations!

Congrats! Best of luck to ya!

Cute story, but you’ll of course forgive me if I say I don’t believe a word of it, right? It was just a clever way for you to introduce one of you favorite jokes into this thread, correct? First off, why would anyone ask such a question? And secondly, do really expect us to believe that there is still a need for a group of people called “web application architects”??

Oh, alright, if so, please let me know. I wouldn’t mind such a job right now myself.

How odd, I was laid off just today. :frowning:

Congrats!
You want fries with that?
