Who's been to Glitter and Doom?

Has anyone else gone to see Tom Waits’ Glitter and Doom yet? I just got back from the St. Louis show and am still blown away. Admittedly, I don’t go see many concerts, but I don’t think I’ll see any better. The simplicity of the whole thing (that is, it was just music and a little talk; no special effects (well, except for the glitter and the clouds of dust that he stomped up)) really worked for me.

The tickets were a big chunk out of my budget, but, well…I never got to see Warren Zevon perform, and I’ll never get to now. I decided that if I didn’t go see Waits when I had the chance, I’d regret it. Besides, making a four-hour road trip to see the most talented performer alive will make for a better story when I’m old than “I could have gone, but I decided tickets were too expensive”. They were worth every penny, BTW.

I can’t even remember all the songs he and the band played (“Down in the Hole”, “Make It Rain”, “Get behind the Mule” were there, though), but they finished their encore with “Innocent When You Dream” and the beautiful and talented Yasmine was amazed that he’d go from loud, blues-y songs to something like that (as was I, but I was a fan and she had no idea what she’d signed on for).

Sorry – I know I’m rambling, but it’s been along two days.

So, what about it? Has anyone else here seen him yet?
(By the way – I got tickets within second of them going on sale and couldn’t get “orchestra pit” seats. No complaints about the seats we had – they were maybe 20 rows back – but I’m curious, if anyone knows: were the people in the pit just faster than I was, or were those seats even for sale? I’ve heard unsubstantiated rumors and speculations that the best seats for most concerts go to corporations and aren’t even available to the general public.)
