Who's is Alaska?

Is it a state?

huh? lost me on that one.

Yes, Alaska is one of the fifty United States. It is a state. In fact, it’s the 49th state, becoming a state in 1959. Prior to that, it was a US territory, having come into our possession by purchase in 1867.

And just in case the OP was asking if Alaska was named after someone, here is how Alaska got its name.

The approximate breakdown of ownership of the land in the state: Federal 65%, State 24%, Alaska Native Corporations 10%, other private ownership 1%.

I think of the many intelligently-phrased questions that go unanswered here at the SDMB, and it makes me sad that this one gets four replies.

I should have said ‘Whose is Alaska?’
Sorry for the confusion. I am embarrassed.

Well, of course most people already know the answer to this one, or know how to find it out in five seconds by either looking in an almanac or googling.

Questions that go unanswered in GQ are usually either 1) very obscure, 2) difficult to research, or 3) imponderables, that is, questions that no one actually knows the answer to.

Embarassed about the grammar or about the question?

The answer to the question is, of course, it’s mineMINE, I tell ya…

Bwa-HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

This might help.

All I can say is that it was an 80’s punk spanish band.

Oh, I just saw the OP correct his post, but the memories of Spanish (punk) rock…I had to share.

James Michener’s?
