Who's Pre-ordered COD:MW3?

I just did. I don’t really know anything about it other than the preview trailers and the wiki article. But I know that I’d get it anyway. The trailers are pretty seizure-inducing, but I doubt the game is that bad.

I noticed that you have to wait for airborne infantry to hit the ground before you can shoot them. Annoying, just like on MW2.

The armored infantry look like a pain to take down. I wonder if heavy armor will be available in multiplayer and if it will be worth getting.

I guess I should include some links.

I preordered it… although with a 1 month old son, I’m not sure how much time I’ll get to play once it’s out (he’ll be what… 3 months old by then?).

And he’ll probably be better at it than me.

Just curious but what’s the purpose of pre-ordering a massive release like this? Do you think there isa chance you won’t be able to get a copy on release day? They’ll probably be stocking this in every gas station and grocery store in the US at midnight on release day.

I don’t understand preordering unless it is a niche game which may not be carried otherwise or if it’s the special edition of a game that may be limited release.

I refuse to pre-order anything that doesn’t come with a hat for TF2.

I ended up putting some money on it because I got a bonus for trading in a couple games. I’m not expecting a lot of greatness from this. They don’t release public betas, so, to me, it’s safe to assume they have some massive glitches at launch.

I haven’t and I probably won’t. I think this time I’ll put my money towards the new Battlefield. I could never get into the multiplayer on COD.

I’ll tell you my reason. I know that i’m getting the game anyway and don’t mind paying the full price. I want to garauntee that i’ll be in on the multiplayer action from the begining instead of coming months after every munchkin out there has memorized all the maps, glitches and hiding places.

That’s my thinking as well, although it’s probably all for naught; when they release new maps, the munchkins apparently play 72 hours straight, so that even if I got the new maps on time, the munchkins know the hiding places, maps, etc… by heart at the time I’m just starting to play, or at a point when I’ve maybe played for an hour or less.

I preorder because Amazon often gives me $20 in credit, making the game price $40. They do that for a lot of AAA games but haven’t get for Modern Warfare 3, so I haven’t pre-ordered it. For example, I have preordered Gears of War 3 which has the promo credit: http://www.amazon.com/Gears-War-3-Xbox-360/dp/B002I0H79C/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1314894079&sr=1-1

I’m not tracking what you’re saying here. Are you saying that you couldn’t have the same access by running out to any random store on release day and picking it up? It seems all you’ve done is limit yourself to a specific store to make your purchase now. Im sure the big box places will have some sort of deal going on release day too.

Now if you get a credit from amazon for preordering then that makes sense.

I don’t have your faith in their availability. Chances are, you’re correct. But if $5 down now is all it takes to ensure that my copy is waiting for me on release day, then why not? I live a quarter mile from the best buy I reserved it at. It was not an inconvienance to drop by after work.

I don’t track your disdain for those of us who pre-ordered. Do you consider us stupid for having done so?

I think pre-ordering is foolish given how availability hasn’t been an issue for 10 years and so many games have bombed hard at release. Kind of like a less extreme version of buying a lifetime sub to an MMO. Of course, a 0-day purchase is basically the same thing and I’ve certainly made plenty of those (and been burned on a few.)

If you get a price break or early/beta-access or a TF2 hat to compensate you for the risk, that’s a different matter.

Meh. I played Modern Warefare, and while it looked great, it played like Unreal Tournament. I never bought another in the series.

Battlefield 3 is the big game I’ve been waiting for - I started a BF3 clan and am building a gaming rig just for it.

Where did you get disdain from? I said I truly don’t understand, not that you are wrong or stupid. I DO understand preordering niche games from Gamestop and what not but monster releases like COD are going to be available by the ton immediately upon release.

It seems you believe that there is a chance it won’t be available at Best Buy on release day if you don’t pre-commit to buying it from them. You’ve explained your rationale. Thank you.

Some games (such as Battlefield 3) include additional content if you pre-order. Also, if the game is available from a digital distributor like Steam, you can pre-load the game, and it will be available to you the minute it’s released/unlocked.

I’ve strayed from COD since World at War and all the money-grubbing that Activision is doing doesn’t make it likely I’ll get MW3. BF3 for me.

EA is just as bad, if not worse. At least MW3 is Steamworks.

This. The trailers and interviews don’t lead me to believe they’ve changed any aspect of the arcade twitch 10-lives-a-minute game play.

I’m looking forward to the 360 version of Battlefield 3, and hope its a colossal improvement over the 360’s Battlefield 2.
