I’m just wondering where Sheldon could have gone to university if he takes the piss out of places like MIT and Princeton? And when he mocks Howard that his degree and alma mater are worthless. It’s be interesting if it ever gets revealed.
Sheldon Cooper is afflicted with Asperger’s syndrome, and this is the reason for his sociopathic behavior (he simple can’t do anything with this).
At the core he is a good man, willing to help, but if he sees reasonable sense - eg. Penny help with money.
Leonard never! helped anyone without not thinking about what benefit he will get for it. Almost always when he did a good deed, it was only because to look good in the eyes of some girls, mostly penny - and in fact, he always regret that…
Plus his idiotic tendency rebut his head backward, as evidenced by what he is douchebag - just obviously needs to have a feeling of superiority, which is probably a consequence of this habit …
Anyway, from 4th season TBBT is shitty, boring, soap opera like show for common dumb flock…
I’ve always read Leonard’s (or is it Johnny Galecki’s?) head upturns as simply part of being short. Somebody his height *has *to look up to look most people in the eye.
He’s a genuine friend to all the rest of the group, especially to Sheldon, who needs it most.
He did not take Sheldon to CERN (there been more similar situations), even when Penny offered to divest her participation in favor for him… They two could go anywhere later, while
Leonard knew very well what price has this for Sheldon (even Penny has been able noticed this).
sorry for bringing up an old thread but i’ve been watching tbbt series again and if anything leonard is a truly awful friend compared to sheldon.
betrayed howard with dr stephanie,
betrayed raj by sleeping with his sister when he begs his friends not to, even did her on his bed! then he gets upset at raj for not telling him she is leaving. (seriously, what kind of guy would do that to his best friend, ofcourse priya herself is quite awful)
betrayed sheldon by sleeping with dr plimpton then laughs when sheldon says he is hurt by it.
and when it is revealed that penny is married to zack, he kept going on and on about it to her face!
later he guilts penny to having sex with him by manipulating her with what his mother did to him in the book penny was studying.
there are more but i think thats enough. i used to really hate howard for his disgusting pervert ways to penny but he has really grown.
leonard is supposed to be the hero of the show but right now i really dont like him at all!
Sheldon on the other hand doesnt know better as he is totally clueless about acceptable social conduct but he will always try to explain it in a logical way.
Cognitive: The ability to recognize another’s emotional state and how others actions may or may not of brought the person to that state.
Emotional: The ability to feel emotion for others, to understand another’s pain. And to feel happiness when someone they care about is happy.
In otherwords, what most people think about when they hear the word empathy.
Aspergers and Autism spectrum people lack cognitive. They by no means lack emotional, if anything it’s probably stronger in them.
Sociopaths and Narcissists lack Emotional, but have cognitive up the wazoo.
Autism spectrum people care, but they can’t always figure out when or why someones anger or displeasure was caused. And even if they do realize it, they can often find it stupid or making little sense. Social complexity is often lost on them.
Sociopaths recognize almost all emotions in others (minus disgust apparently), able to read faces and body posture like a book, but are completely incapable of feeling for others. They gain no happiness in other people being happy.
Sorry, I just see a lot of people lumping empathy as one thing and then feel upset. I’ve known autistic people, have two in my family and neither of them lack emotions at all, just difficulty realizing what would make a person upset or why it would do so.
Sheldon has also shown in the show that he clearly does care for others when he realizes why something might of upset them and that he may of caused it. Not always understanding why or even disagreeing that it should make them upset, but tries to own it nonetheless.
In spite of having something under the autism spectrum (though the show won’t admit it, probably because people would have a hissy fit) he wasn’t also raised very well. Living in a home when his parents clearly fought a lot, eventually losing his father and always having had difficulty understanding others.
He also has clear OCD and inferiority issues because his spectrum issue forced him to be unable to grow emotionally when he couldn’t relate or understand others which turned into a “holier then thou” complex that has since been toned down greatly in the show.
President of the university Siebert. He pimps the guys out, seduces Sheldon’s mother, makes them do things they don’t want to do, forces them to compete with one another and attempts to bring in new blood to humiliate them, insults them, etc.
Well, all bosses make people do things they don’t want to do from time to time. That’s just the nature of being employed, unless you happen to have a perfect job that has no unpleasant aspects to it.
You’re actually conflating two characters, I think. The one who “seduced” Sheldon’s mother (and that’s a rather loaded way of putting it–Mary was totally into it!) was actually Dr. Gablehauser, the head of the Physics Department. The only one he ever really insulted was Howard, who he made a point of calling Mister Wolowitz.
President Siebert (played by Joshua Malina) is the one who “pimps them out,” i.e., makes them schmooze with potential donors. He doesn’t seem to dislike or insult any of them, except Sheldon (and who could blame him for that?).
Over time, Siebert seemed to replace Gablehauser as the University functionary that the guys occasionally had to deal with.
I would want nothing to do with any of them IRL but I don’t have a problem with any of them in particular as part of the show. However, I despised Priya because her behaviour was not, IMHO, comical. It did get to the point that she deterred me from watching it. For the remaining characters I guess Leslie Winkel would be my choice.
He wants to be INVITED there as acknowledgement of his brilliance. Failing that, he wanted to accompany Leonard there per the Roommate Agreement, as he refuses to cede that (a) said contract is silly and manipulative, and (b) circumstances not only can but have changed. Because he’s a jerk.
Let’s face it, of the core group, they each have their moments. And although they’re all friends they’re familiar with the idiosyncrasies each of the others have and sometimes they get more annoyed at them then at other times. And when one snipes at another, the others either join in, take sides, or just back off to enjoy the show. Isn’t this like real life?
Of the core cast, I think Sheldon would be the most challenging to have as a friend, cow-orker, or roommate. Of the recurring cast, I think Barry beats out Wil Wheaton, though Beverly out means all of them.
No, they get the date of the Big Bang correctly. Here’s the extended version of the theme song with the lyrics printed over it. You might mistake “billion” for “million” because they don’t sing very clearly, but they did get the number right. Unfortunately, in the extended version of the song, they talk about the Big Crunch, which no longer is the most common theory. Most cosmologists think that the universe will more likely end in a Big Rip:
