Without knowing anything of the details, one senses part of the problem for Dr Kelly was not just the Committee hearing itself but the manner in which it was conducted; the MP’s seem to take the televisual opportunity to promote themselves via ‘hard’ questioning, and even questioning he couldn’t hope to respond to but made them look ‘good’.

Don’t like it. A full transcript might suit me better than some stagey, self-promoting, teevee promoting media circus cum infotainment opportunity . . . may God save us . . .
Twisty – I understand you’re a young man with lust on his mind but, please - just to humour this old man – think very carefully before putting words and phrases like “British”, “Government” and “full justice” in the same sentence. It can cause palpitations.

Campbell’s too smart and we’re not on the inside track so it’s difficult to read his game. It would seem reasonable, at this distance, to see this story as Campbell (a) temporarily (b) offering himself © as a distracting sacrificial lamb. But as I mentioned, it’s all fluid.
