Whose business is it whether I voted or not?

Are they? I’m not from around there and God knows it’s hard to keep track of the 527s and 501(c)s just in my state, let alone elsewhere. I haven’t been able to find out anything about them from Googling. If you know of some source for information about them I’d be much obliged.

Yes, they fucking are, and why are you doubting my word when you admit you have no idea what you’re talking about and I have already posted links to stories about the associated organizations in this very thread?

Wow, what the fuck is your problem?

I have to admit I find this response to a polite request for more information sort of funny in a community that pretends to be about “fighting ignorance”.

As a matter of fact, I had already visited your links, which all show that it’s a shadowy group with no formal connections to any left-wing organization, which is part of why I tried to figure out who they were, and then was struck by the paucity of information.

Your bizarre, over-emotional response makes me even less trusting of your claim. But if there’s actual evidence somewhere, I’m open to seeing it. Democratic political groups tend to be among the best exemplars of the importance of never attributing to malice what can be explained by stupidity.

Wow. That’s desperation.

How hard is it to accept that, in fact, the anti-Scott Walker campaign does need look bad?

I mentioned an example from this election cycle of a right wing group attempting to appeal to me as a known strong Dem voter in order to persuade me to vote in the GOP primary for their favorite candidate. At least one single solitary right-wing group has decided that a strategy of pretending to be left-wing is useful in their political machinations.

I mean, I suppose it’s possible that mine is the only state in the union in which right-wing groups have seized on the tactic of trying to appear to be left-wing in order to accomplish their political goals. Does that hypothesis seem plausible to you?

Incidentally, the meaning of your second paragraph is a bit unclear.

What the fuck my problem is that I gave you information – it was here, and you’re apparently too fucking lazy to read it. And I tell you again, and again you ask questions that have already been answered and you still apparently lack reading comprehension.

The Isthmus article references the Greater Wisconsin Committee as being tied into Democratic people and organizations. The Greater Wisconsin Committee’s website acknowledges a connection with the Fund, and both of the organizations share the same contact email address.

I read your information before the post you objected to so childishly. It explicitly confirms that these at least claim to be non-partisan groups and that they’re fairly secretive, with no obvious ties to left-wing or Dem groups.

The only thing it said is that one of them is apparently headed by some guy who’s been associated with the Democratic Party. If you honestly think that says anything about their goals, funding, or whatever, you have absolutely no idea how these types of organizations work, and you’re frankly incredibly naive. The particular people running these non-partisan organizations are not necessarily tied to any particular ideology and if you actually knew anything about how these types of political groups work, you’d know that. Even if we were discussing an explicitly left-wing group, if you think everyone in their leadership actually is left-wing, you’re dreaming.

I have no idea what this organization is or what they’re doing. I asked for information, in an attempt to decide whether it was a dirty trick or a typically incompetent move by a leftist political group. You can’t provide any information and now you’re angry at me for not accepting your evidence-free assertion.

Wow, your inability to read is astounding. From the Isthmus article – among the sources of the Committee’s funding:

Now, it would be nice if you would STFU unless you have some information to the contrary. Or do you think that mainstream Democratic organizations are contributing and unions are contributing to a sham Democratic organization that is really a front for Republicans?

. . . So, some portion of their money came from presumably Dem-affiliated sources.

That’s not exactly dispositive, but yes, it’s some information.

Yes, I’ve noticed this tendency in this community for posters to equate asking for more information with an assertion. Fortunately, I’m not that stupid. And I’m going to continue looking for actual information about this organization before I draw any conclusions. You don’t have any information, so I’ll look for it elsewhere.

I didn’t say you made any claims. I said you won’t accept claims claims despite ample evidence that they are true, and suggest that those who provide that evidence are lying, idiots or naive.

Whether this is because you are a moron, or because you’re too fucking lazy to read through the evidence, or you’re in some form of denial about the ability of Democrats to pull dumb political stunts like the mailing described in the OP, I cannot say.

Well, you said this: “Now, it would be nice if you would STFU unless you have some information to the contrary”. I don’t have information to the contrary. I’m wanting more information and as I have said all along, I am not at all unwilling to believe that this is some idiotic and counterproductive idea from a left-wing organization. I just want to be certain. And I’m not going to feel certain until I see some convincing evidence, which I haven’t managed to dig up. I am totally open to it if you find any, but all these blustery posts are making me more and more convinced that you haven’t managed to.

I never said you were lying. You’re definitely an idiot, and I think “naive” is not exactly unfair given how much you have extrapolated from very limited evidence.

Failing to believe something on the basis of totally inadequate evidence probably is enough to get a person tarred as “lazy” here at the SDMB, but not in real life.

This is more evidence that you’re an idiot. I have posted over and over that it’s very, very possible that a Dem group was dumb enough to try something like this. I just am not willing to unconditionally accept that until I know more about the group, since they are pretty secretive and I have been a first-hand witness to dirty tricks during the current cycle.

You’re just such a flaming asshole I had to pit you. Congrats, in 10 years here, you’re only the second (or maybe third) person who I’ve found so revolting.

Jesus. At least the last person to do this had the common courtesy to make an amusing accusation that I’m secretly straight. Your pit thread is just sad. I’m really disappointed in you.
