Seeing Tammy Fay on The Surreal Life and Liza Minnelli on Arrested Development I start wondering what these women would look like with regular makeup appropriate for their age (not enough older than me that this is weird) and features. I’ve seen Tammy Faye’s yearbook photo and she was rather cute and if you can make it past Liza’s raccoon makeup she has these enormous, doelike eyes. If they went with a more natural look they’d stop being the laughingstocks they are. Well, maybe not STOP–there are still some behavior issues to contend with–but it would be a step.
Bette Davis went with the Whatever Happened to Baby Jane look for decades after, seemingly not realizing that that she was made to look like that because she was supposed to look scary and insane. In later years I thought she needed fingerless gloves and a shopping cart full of garbage to make the ensemble complete.
