There are plenty of threads where he’s sourced it: it is a character mentioned, I want to say as an aside, in an old EE “Doc” Smith pulp sci-fi series. **Qadgop **- was I close??
I like the names with a built-in joke, such as Howard Juneau. Sometimes, you have to type the user’s name, so the long or hard-to-spell ones are annoying. I love ya, ComeToTheCookieSideWeHaveDarkBeer,, but, jeez, gimme a break.

There’s a poster now called Freudian_Slip so whenever I see him post, for a sec, I get freaked out and wonder if I posted and forgot about it.
I’m 99% certain that it’s from EE “Doc” Smith’s ‘Lensman’ series, where two ancient civilisations clash (even though one of them doesn’t know about the other).
Now the hidden civilisation encourages 4 planets to breed the very best of their own species to aid in the battle.
And Qadgop is the ultimate Mercotan…
Very little is actually known of Qadgop except that he’s nonhumanoid and likes to slither on hulls.

I started out here with just my first name and last initial, which I quickly realized was a stupefyingly dull username. Elendil’s Heir came to me in a flash one day, and a mod was kind enough to change it for me. Although from time to time I wish I’d picked a Monty Python-related name (I even started a thread about it - it’d be hard to choose between Jethro Q. Walrustitty MP, Wensleydale, Shabby Ken Shabby, Minister of Silly Walks, Venezuelan Beaver Cheesemaker and Tarquin Biscuitbarrel), I’m very happy with what I’ve got. It was only after I picked it that I realized that the two-word phrase is actually used at least once in LOTR (although usually the rightful King of Gondor is alluded to as “Isildur’s Heir”).
Which doesn’t make sense, as Isildur was king of Arnor and, at best, regent of Gondor. Being Elendil’s Heir means you’re staking claim to the kingship of the Reunited Kingdom.
Not that I’m interested in such things,of course. I have renounced such ambitions. You should not fear to eat the cheesecake I just teleported to you.

My favorite username, but I don’t want it, is FireUnderpantsBoobs. I automatically snickered whenever I saw it, but I never found out the girl’s motivation for that name.
