To be fair, this has been going on for quite a while and Heard enjoyed the benefit of the doubt early on. Support for Heard has whittled away over time.
I’ve never put much stock into the science of body language. But after watching a number of videos by the Behavior Panel experts on YouTube, I’ve become more of a believer.
I’m not overly invested in the Depp v. Heard case (nor celebrity court cases in general), but from what testimony I’ve seen from both Depp and Heard, I’m siding mainly with Depp. Heard’s testimony strikes me as an insincere, poorly acted, lawyer-prepped “performance.” The Behavior Panel appears to agree:
I believe Heard set Depp up for a legal fall before their divorce in a very calculated way and Depp was too drug and alcohol addled to realize he was being set up. I agree with the assessment that she is a narcissist with borderline personality disorder. Depp is no angel, but when he married Heard, he didn’t know what hit him.
The Behavior Panel also posted an analysis of Depp’s testimony if you care to search for it on their YouTube channel.
I would have liked to have seen a woman or two on that panel but, yeah, I’m getting the sense now that the reason I am seeing so much distrust and animosity towards Amber Heard is that it appears to be warranted. I’m still retaining my objectivity, but it’s hard not to side with Depp with the current information out there.
Apparently she explained shitting in his bed as a “bad practical joke.” Uh-huh.
I actually heard about the bed shitting long before this trial. Up until then I had been a pretty big Amber Heard fan, having enjoyed her minor roles in Zombieland and Pineapple Express and really liking her starring rules in horror movies (which I love) The Stepfather, The Ward, And Soon the Darkness, and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.
I didn’t hate her in The Informers or The Joneses, but it’s not like I would be submitting either for awards consideration.
So I have long been a fan of Heard’s, and I’ve never really been a fan of Johnny Depp. I don’t particularly like the Pirates movies, and find his acting schticky even in straight rolls like The Tourist. Sort of like Jim Carrey in the Truman Show or Eternal Sunshine. I was impressed with both at the time, but I caught bits of both recently and he’s hamming it up pretty badly, IMO.
So anyway, I was strongly predisposed to side with Amber Heard in this whole sordid affair, but, I mean, she shit in his bed! I just can’t get past that.
Of all the things I’ve heard, I actually don’t find that to be that big a deal. I mean, yeah, it’s weird.
I don’t know the circumstances, and if it was an accident like Spud had in Trainspotting, it would no big deal, but if it was deliberate, it was a very fucked up thing to do.
Her defense is that it was a bad practical joke, meaning in her defense she admits it was intentional.
I guess I’m just jaded. That’s a bit messed-up, but it’s a minor note compared to the rest for me.
There is a reason that “shit the bed” is a colloquialism for an irredeemably bad decision or action.
Stranger
Yeah, I would quit ties with every person who intentionally shat in my bed, that’s for sure. Everyone who takes that as a practical joke is humor impaired.
I’m team Amber. Not watching. Gawd no not listening to them air their dirty laundry and watching Depp assume a choirboy persona while he doodles like a little boy. Read enough over the years of their troubled relationship to see that Depp is putting the screws to her and enjoying every minute of it.
For a little more balance, I wanted to offer this. Depp already lost this battle once and it was fairly decisive. I’m sure I could find a more in-depth analysis of the findings because I know I’ve read them, but this is a good summary. The judge found he abused her on 12 of 14 occasions. The current case is not about whether she is a good person. The question is, did she suffer abuse and I believe she did.
Can he claim to also be abused by her? Sure! Not sure how much I believe that or how that erases the abuse she suffered or makes her libelous. Just makes him also a victim, but not the only one. I think she also has issues, but this notion of her taking advantage of Depp is…dubious.
Classy.
What’s the PR Team supposed to do about court testimony?
Their real job begins as Amber testifies. The PR team should make sure her claims against Depp makes the news and gets favorably discussed on social media.
I haven’t been following this, but Amber Heard is mega pretty.
Is that the wrong takeaway?
Yes. She’s a Hollywood starlet, of course she is generally considered to be superficially attractive, it’s her job to be. I don’t think that’s what the trial is about, though.
Yes. This is a court case. Your perception of her attractiveness is not part of the issue at hand.
Neither of them came out of the English court case with their standing enhanced.
Agreed, can’t say I’m impressed with either one, TBH. Is it just me, or does the ACLU also look a bit bad?
Oh, I think I get it. I’m straight, so Depp’s relative attractiveness is irrelevant to me. I’m glad we got that worked out.
Time to end this odd little hijack.
