Why am I getting jury summons for people who don't live here?

…And, more importantly, for people who are long since DEAD?

First, it was the sweet little old lady who owned our home before us…AFAIK, she had, at least, all of her mail forwarded to her new address, and her name is off the deed/title to our home. One would assumed her driver’s license addy is different, but I could assume incorrectly. That summons is almost understandable.

But then yesterday, I received a summons for her long deceased husband (well, “long” being defined as 2 years). Umm…just how messed up is our system that the voting block doesn’t know when one of its members passes away? (We get constant mail in his name from various Republican groups.)

I mean…I assume a death certificate was filed. Shouldn’t that flag everything associated with his name? Just how hard IS it to die in this county?

nope. gov’t databases aren’t integrated (Privacy Act).

Most courts use voter registration rolls as their source of name.

(telephone books cannot be used because of disproportional representation - poor people are less likely to have phones.)

to die is easy, but the paperwork is a bitch
