Yesterday I got an email from “Soundsugar” which I saw was spam so I deleted it without giving it a second thought. Today I keep getting emails from people addressed to: Soundsugar@list.soundsugar.net (which is not my address) requesting that they be unsubscribed from their mailing list. I just got another one from someone who is asking to unsubscribe who says he is also getting the unsubscribe requests.
All these say - “To: Soundsugar@list.soundsugar.net” at the top in the “From:” , “To:” and “Subject:” box of Outlook Express above the message box, yet they are coming to me!
I have never heard of “Soundsugar” and have never subscribed to or signed up for anything from anybody with that name or at their address. I didn’t click on anything in the body of, or attached to, the first spam mail I got from them. I just deleted it.
What is the remedy for this?
ditto me, I got the same email yeaterday a almost a dozen “unsubcribe me” requests today. I’m in the process of updating all my anti-virus definitions and will run a scan. I’ll post if there are any results.
Somehow you got on a mailing list. The e-mails are being forwarded to everyone on the list. People sending unsubscribe requests to that e-mail list are going to have their unsubscribe requests sent out to everyone on the list. If the maintainer on the list doesn’t unsubscribe people there’s nothing you can do except refuse e-mails from that e-mail address.
Why does your name not show up in the To: list? I don’t know the technical ins and outs, but I think that putting the e-mail address in the “To:” field is something usually done by the e-mail program but not required for an e-mail to be delivered. Similarly to how the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) option is implemented.
Since the “unsubscribe request” emails are coming from different individuals and are all directed to an address other than mine, how do I block them? I already blocked the original spam sender that preceeded the deluge of unsubscribe requests.
Can’t you tell your e-mail program to junk all e-mails where the recipient is Soundsugar@list.soundsugar.net
Yeah, with Message Rules. Never had to use it before. We’ll see if that works. Thanks!
So, I was recently reading about infected computers being used as email distributors, that’s why I did a full sweep of my systen, which came up empty BTW. Hope this is over soon.
