Why are black people so LOUD?

But how about a casual check of a peer’s social standing? Is that harsh enough to be considered a slur?

I’ve been called “nigga” or “nigger” a few times by Black people I don’t know and that is not cool with me. If I know you, then okay. A lot of my friends are fond of saying, “Nigga, please,” which doesn’t bother me in the least. But if we just met, and you’re referring to me as “that nigga over there” or some shit like that, we’re already off on the wrong foot.

If someone younger than me, like a teenager, said it to me, I would take it as an insult, but more of a disrespect thing, like calling a grown man “homey” or some shit like that.

But if I know you and the word comes from your mouth often, no biggie.

Jesus. I’m glad ‘redneck white boy’ ain’t got this many rules to keep up with.

Man, this is priceless. Can we make this the National Slogan, or something?

Damn … I hate seeing the “n word” used so much in this thread. I realize it’s in context, but … gawd, that’s an ugly word. :frowning:

You’re gonna grow up to be one cranky old man, mr. Hollow. I like it when I can still get away with being called “holmes.”

Exactly. Boorish group behavior tends to come from from this quarter. When is the last time you saw people in expensive suits yelling “Oh no he didn’t!” at the top of their lungs?

In NYC, I see people in suits behaving like utter boors all the time, including shouting much worse things than mere disbelief at the top of their lungs.

Amen. Just the other day there were 5 or 6 guys in a convenience store who had clearly come from a frat formal. They pulled up in a brand new black Jeep and a brand new black Explorer, were all wearing suits, walked into the store, and immediately started acting like complete savages. Screaming, hooting, swearing…I couldn’t believe it. When they finally left, the woman behind the counter said to me “be thankful you don’t have to deal with these guys every day.” I told her that they just don’t know what it’s like to have to work for a living.

I’d never before seen such utter disrespect for a business establishment before.

Jesus, not you with your dainty sensibilities again. Aren’t they expecting you back in Teletubbyland?

elmwood, I believe I have confused you with a different poster. Apologies and please disregard.

Based on personal experience, black people are generally loud-- it’s a racial stereotype, but stereotypes exist because something happens often enough that we start to assume it’s almost always true. In my experience, stupid people tend to be louder than smart people. When you don’t have the power of language, it’s a lot easier to raise your voice and use plenty of curse words to convey your message. It’s been my experience that rednecks, poor Hispanic kids, and punk-ish Asian kids generally behave with the same lack of decency and manners. It’s not money or race that seems to make the difference, it’s education.
“I’m sorry you were raised so poorly that you don’t have any manners and are socially inept, but that’s not an excuse for being so.”

pok

What a privilege it is to be first to declare you a flaming asshole.

 What is it about April?

Americans as a whole are louder than everyone else on Earth, topping that list would be young American women. Everyone else on the planet are minor percentages in volume compared to them.

Arguing about blacks in America being loud is just irrelevant.

Do you know who also had a birthday in April?

Or 420.

I’m sure you’d have posted your “thoughts” on the matter 6 years ago when this thread originated except you were only 7 years old at the time. I merely deduced this from your post; I’m not ruling out the possibility that you were younger.

Soooooo… loud people are stupid?? HUH, BUDDY!!!

To the dumbfuck OP and the fuckwad pmitch, do you think loud people are loud all the time?? Like they sing lullabies like, “LULLABY!!! AND GOODNIGHT!!!”???

Fucking April.

After taking a few minutes to search online (yeah I know, we’re talking serious research here), I’ve come to 3 conclusions.

[ul]
[li]Black people are apparently often characterized as “loud”, by blacks and whites alike.[/li][li]Some people think that’s good ("In your face!"), some people think that’s bad (“Shut up!”).[/li][li]I can’t find any studies as to whether or not it’s actually true.[/li][/ul]
And it is in theory possibly true you know; speech patterns are a cultural matter, not a biological one. Although it’s somewhat telling that the claim is always structured as “black people are too loud”, and never “white people are too quiet”.

I’d just like to say the long-departed OP of this thread inspired some of my best work on this board.
