Seems like they’re always coming out with commercials that feature football referees.
Refs flipping coins, refs meeting onfield, refs bungling calls. Is there some standard dartboard that all ad execs use and one of the fields is “football ref”?
I’ve only seen refs in commercials for products that have a history of being predominately used by men. That could be your answer right there.
Every other field on that dartboard is “girls with big tits.”
I’ve seen these ads for cell phones and fast food… not that gender specific.
WAG: people are used to paying attention to referees.
I’d guess that it’s a way to say “Major League Sports” without having to hire a recognizable (and expensive) athlete or pay a license fee for using a team logo.
