Human genitals are not exactly disgusting to look at – many people find great fascination in looking at them – but they are ugly compared to practically every other visible part of the human body. We all appreciate human beauty, don’t we? And it’s not only a sexual-response-instinct thing; the straightest guy would have to be a soul-dead Philistine not to see beauty in Michelangelo’s David. Faces can be beautiful. Arms and legs and hands and feet and buttocks and backs and bellies and chests and shoulders can be beautiful. But genitals? Show any straight guy photographs of ten women’s faces and he can readily rank-order them from least to most beautiful by his own personal standards. Show him pictures of ten women’s vaginas – well, maybe he can rank them, but he’ll have to think long and hard about it and be somewhat puzzled by the request. It’s the same with women, I’m sure. A woman might be attracted to a guy with a notably large (or, maybe, with a notably small) penis because of its potential to pleasure her, but that’s not esthetic appreciation the way her drooling over a guy’s tight buns would be esthetic appreciation.
Why is that? Why can’t we have beautiful genitals?
Does any animal have beautiful genitals? A tiger is one of the most beautiful animals on Earth, but I doubt its cock is worth looking at, unless you’re a tigress.

I think orifices in general are pretty ooky looking. Imagine a photo of just someone’s mouth. Not very appealing. Human beauty is looking at how the whole fits together. Someone can have nice shoulders, but they’re nice because of the way they fit with the rest of the body, not just on their own.

I could easily rate pictures of vulvas according to my standards of beauty. Seriously, some are beautiful, some are not. Some are in between. They would not be difficult to rate. To me anyway.

Alright, I almost afraid to admit this as a straight guy, but I sometimes find an erect penis more visually appealing than a vagina.
I think it has a lot to do with the spherical shape of the head, and the rod shape of the shaft.
Do I find an erect penis sexually arousing? Well, sometimes. Perhaps once a month I’ll get the urge to watch gay or transsexual porn. However, it has to be purely below the waste. I don’t find men’s faces or bodies appealing or arousing in any way. Also, I think a lot of the appeal for me is that I feel guilty watching gay porn.
