Why are google ad urls showing up in my "Back" list?

IE 6.0 (sp3) (not my fault…it’s non-replaceable work default), not only on the Dope, but not on much more, and not on Giraffe boards or Snopes, which have the same software.

For some reason, google ad urls (mostly doubleclick) are showing up in my “Back” dropdown history list, which necessitates me right-clicking the Back button and mouse to the last actual board page (which appears after usually from 2 to 4 google ad urls).

The only two websites that this happens on that I frequent are this one and Balloon Juice (John Cole’s mostly-political blog, which uses another kind of software completely).

Is there any way to keep those from going into that queue? Something in Options or something for IE? It’s not urgent/important, but it’s really annoying.

ETA: I can’t download anything other than web pages. Period. So add-ons are out, as are new browsers. Thanks!

It isn’t your browser, it’s the SDMB. There’s some related discussion over here.

I have identified 5 different ad brokers serving ads on the same SDMB page. They each use Javascript. My theory is that the different pieces of ad-serving code are interfering with each other.
