Why are moderator Warnings so hard to see?

Brought to mind by this thread but, I always wondered about that – and why like Monty’s made in fun suggestion they can’t be bolded or enreddened or “enblinker-ed” (?) or something like that.

How come? Why are they just sort of slid in there like any other post – is it a Technical thing or did it just evolve like that or was it a purposeful decsion?

I guess we never thought about it. Each moderator does her/his own thing. But, basically, why should we want to call attention to them?

I thought you guys had that red LED thing that scanned across your visor. Or is that just the Moderators?

Isn’t the whole point of issuing a warning - to call attention to them? Not being chesty - I really am asking that.

Besides the person being warned, I think for others Especially in a 3-4 page thread it is really easy to miss. Why not just send an email to the folks being warned if you don’t want to call attention to the warnings?

Well… e-mail isn’t sufficient. We want others to see that an offense received a warning. But we don’t need to rub people’s nose innit. That’s my thought.

But, as I say, I don’t think we set it up deliberately, it just happened.

MOD WARNING

Your zipper is down.

MOD WARNING

It’s my understanding that they do issue warnings via email if the violation is indicative of a posting trend across several threads; however, if it just looks like somebody being jerkish in a single thread, warning them in that thread is assumed to suffice. If the person later says in another thread “Well, I never saw the first warning,” I would guess that emails would ensue.

We want to issue correction where needed – but also not to embarrass or humiliate people, which bolding would do.

There are a lot of sensitive souls on the board and it’s already too easy to upset as it is. We’re not inclined to go further to inflame hurt feelings.

You’re talking about me, aren’t you? Aren’t you?
