I’m fairly new to TikTok. I don’t post videos but I will occasionally comment. And my comments are typically nothing noteworthy.
Yet people are following me. I’m guessing money is involved somehow. But what’s the gig?

And I wonder why Ive started to see in my news feeds Tik toker stories and reactions as if their head space is newsworthy. Maybe? not really to me and I do not tik tok.

Hoping I follow back seems weird bc the people following me don’t have any content of their own either.
It seems like the creators would be the ones hungry for followers. And not the lurkers. I suppose I could be wrong though.

Still guesswork, but why create content for “no one”.
- Follow as many people you can without triggering any spam rules
- Gain some fraction of those as re-follows
- Meet your desired follower threshold
- Post the clickbaitiest shit you can come up with (nonsense cooking was/is popular, include some typos for hate comments)
- Profits (I don’t know how TikTok’s revenue sharing works)
