I’ve noticed that when browsing current threads, I can go back as far as 8 or 9 pages in Cafe Society and see threads that haven’t been active for over a week. On the other hand, if I’m in IMHO, I can only see two pages of threads, and they’ve all been posted to within the past day. Why is this? Is there some sort of setting I can change to see “older” threads in other fora without using the searching function?
Scroll down to the bottom of the page for each forum and you can see “Display Options” which control how many days worth of posts you can see. The defaults are different for each forum.
The option is in your UserCP http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/profile.php?do=editoptions
Change “Default Thread Age Cut Off” from Use Forum Default to your choice of days.
