Why can't I get into some web sites?

Perhaps this topic has been covered. If so, please provide the link. But I’m here because someone mentioned on another thread that the wonderful search engine Dogpile is running fine, and I have not been able to access that for many months. I also cannot get into monster.com. I use DSL and both IE & Netscape browsers. When I use my dialup notebook, I can get into monster.com. Is there some tech info. I should know? I don’t think I have a firewall because my PC is at home. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

If you have DSL, you should have ZoneAlarm. It’s free, and once you have it, you’ll probably be surprised at how often somebody snoops your machine.

And if somebody has used your machine for nefarious hijinks, your IP may be blocked at whatever sites they may have done bad stuff. You can email webmaster@dogpile.com to make further inquiries.

I will prepare the way for the TechMasters who will no doubt be here shortly by asking you the following questions:

What kind of software are you running?
What kind of computer is it?
What version of Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.?
What kind of DSL?
What version of Windows, if any?
What things have you tried, to get them to come up?
What other websites won’t come up?
Do you have any kind of anti-virus or security software installed, like Web Nanny?

I’ve got Windows ME, IE 5.5 here, and both dogpile and monster.com are working.
